I'm happy for you CXZAR, but for me too. I'm Venezuelan too--half Venezuelan to be precise. My father was a pop singer on Television back in the 50s and 60s in Venezuela, and was shown singing all over Caracass and the country. He was on the verge of becoming the "Elvis Pressley of Venezuela". Why he even combed his hair and danced like Elvis (the girls went crazy with him up on stage), lol. However, he turned his life in a different direction (for the better) before it happened, and ended up coming to America and finding a beautiful bride (Wisconsinite girl) in a university in Michigan.
I was born in Illinois (they happened to be in Illinois at the time, but I'm actually from Wisconsin), and when I turned 2 yrs old, we moved down to Venezuela and lived there for 6 years. Most of our relatives on my father's side still live down there. My brother was born down there (almost in the market place, lol) and was almost 2 years old when we moved back to America (I was 8).
My father has always been a great fan of Simon Bolivar. I'm glad you posted it, as it was news to me as well. So yes, we do have something in common. One thing I do disagree with you on, however, is Chavez. If it weren't for him, our poor relatives down there would be in shambles. He has really helped the poor people down there, and my grandmother is very thankful. We actually have a lot of insider information coming our way that tells the real story behind Chavez, unlike the American media has made him out to be. His relations with Castro are absolutely meaningless compared to what he has done for the poor people. Any other president has always cared for the rich, but has never been in the best interest for the poor. But of course, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
