Read the article in the NYTimes... Gaming & money get more and more mixed up... Although it is good that those Chinese guys get money to earn theirselves a living, they must do it under a slavery regime.... :-(
Well I thought I post the link here, because it sets you thinking. What are your opinions on this? Will AoE3 also be a target for 'farmers', given the homecity system?... (And the MMO ES is probably making?)
For some reason Heavengames has been running a lot of "buy gold" ads from IGE recently as well . I think the problem is really poor design of those games though, that makes this possible. Actually World of Warcraft is one of the better ones in that the best items can't be traded (for money or anything else) and have to be obtained by killing something, so you can't buy your way to the best equipment.
You are right, it is always a matter of design, also... A good design can`t make it impossible, but can make this kind of trade harder to happen, maybe.
But: I just don`t understand that there are people willing to buy, with real money, objects or characters... It is not a game, a fun time, a moment of relaxation, anymore then...
