Not really quite comparable, that doesn't include the house cost, which brings them to about the same price. That extra villager will pay off, but you need a significant amount of villagers to make up for the loss of 50 wood and wait a lot of time before they have actually become a "bonus". You only need 8 vills at the most of hunting, very few on wood to create houses, and maybe like 10 on gold, to continue villy production and pump abus with some jans. Then there are crates which really speed things up ...
B/s.
The house cost is an extra 5 wood per longbow, thats PUNY. Thats still way less than abus guns, if you included the extra wood cost it would be 105 res vs 150 res. Nice try.
Also, the vil makes up for a lot of this, if you included the vil, the cost is almost nullified, its like an extra 1 wood per longbow.
Also, both players have crates, so what's the problem here? Are you seriously trying to say Brits don't get crates? FFS, Brits get an 8 settler card in fort, thats worth a lot more than 1k food since it gives you a huge boost in economy.

What skill level are you at? Will your enemy seriously sit around and let you just get owned by his skirms? You obviously pull the jans slightly back, to lure the skirms in and then kill them with abus. He sends in cav? pull back the abus a bit and use them to hammer the cav in addition to your jans ranged and/or melee attack.
Abus either need to lose some of their attack, or lose their efficiency against artillery.
I ask you the same question: What skill level are you at?
Who in their right mind lets highlanders "own" their longbows in melee?! Thats just stupid. Also, I've done it numerous times. Without godlike micro, the Otto can't force his abus through bodies of jans when my cav charge them, he'll have to go AROUND, and during that maneuvering time, my skirms would be killing his jans...in this case, longbows, its even better than skirms.
Try it. Its very hard to move janissaries between abus guns trying to get to the front of the line, in that time some of the jans will die and the cav will kill a couple abus.

Err, longbows will certainly lose to cav mercs, that is, unless there are many more longbows than mercs in terms of VS, which as in any typical scenario, the army that costed more to purchase will most likely win. Highlanders with there high attack and decent HP can wreck longbows, especially if put in melee, and the skirm merc (can't recall the name ATM) will own longbows. So realistically, longbows will only own heavy infantry mercs.
Like I said, who lets melee highlanders kill their longbows??!!Remember mercs require coin and 60 seconds of shipment send time. Longbows can be replaced, created. Highlanders fall like flies to longbows, its not even funny.

Read above, and longbows are raped by artillery, even though a few massed can make artillery a nightmare. Send in 5-10 cav against a longbowmasser with a few LI and falcs and those longbows will be owned. Spahi?
Spahi don't work. Ask Ender.

Right sacrificing 600f and 400g to maybe make your enemy waste 250f and 500g, if your lucky, is REAL cost effective. And wtf? Jans eat hussars for breakfeast, while those abus just rape the poor longbows to hell.
What do you propose to do then? If you're going to sit there and give up, I suppose you deserve to lose.
Hussars are the only cav unit Brits get, you HAVE to use them, or else die. Like it or not, you're going to make a stable anyway (for dragoons), so you might as well make hussars.
And BTW, hussars would kill more than 2 abus before dying.
I'll show you a rec, if I can, of one of my Dutch games against an Ottoman. In fact, I'll try to play one right now, or tomorrow if I run out of time.
I am Rumour Kontrol.
