Is Unction useful?

How much more damage do your units do when Unction is sent and Missionaries are used?

Does it stack with more Missionaries?

Does any1 even consider making Missionaries now in TWC?

I used it a coupl eof times while playing online and didnt see that much of a diff. DOnt get me wrong 10 Lancers w/ Caballero, and like 4 missionaries w/ Unction does do some nasty damage to infantry.

5% damage bonus. I don't know if it stacks.

It's supposed to stack up to a 100% increase. How large is the area of effect, though?

Geez. SO.. if you have 20 Missionaries with your attacking army (they are fast so they keep up, and reteat nice), say you have some Lancers like previously stated, with a 100% attack increase there hand damage would be 40 @_@!

Add in Caballeros and they do a nightmarish 160 damage! to ALL Infantry. IN FORTRESS. F*ck thats like having trainable Elmeti's with less health.

I mean if Spain is OP, and people start getting crafty w/ Unction and those fleetfooted Missionaries, they could be REALLLYY OMFG OP.

And they heal.

EDIT:

Hrm, what if you put some of them with your falconets?? THey would heal them back up, and make them do even more damage? A falconet with even a 50% damage increase is great @_@

Eh... that's basically paying 200 Coin for an additional 5% dmg bonus. That's pretty balanced. To get +50%, you need to spend 2000 Coin and use up 10 pop slots. To get +100%, you need to spend 4000 Coin and use up 20 pop slots. You always have the chance of losing one or more during a battle, so the upkeep of their bonus may become even more expensive.

I could have never thought of correcting Cy, but Missionaries are not 200 gold, but 100 gold and 100 wood @_@

Which might actually be worse, but still just 10 Missionaries increase ALL of ur units attack by 50%.

If your Pikemen were doing 40 damage to those Hussars, with 10 Missionaries, they are doing 60.

If your Lancers were doing 60 dmg to those Musks, now they doing 90.

Plus after a skirmish, the Missionaries will auto-heal your injured units, which is ultimately saving you VS.

I mean that has to be worth 1000 resources.

What's better imo, is using unctions with a colonial musket rush, and then shipping church card for breastplate and adv arsenal (relatively fast) for some real heavy infantry

You can pump musk quite easily with a couple of missionaries, using micro to pull back injured inf and you can save $$.

If all things are relative then cannibalism is just a matter of taste...

I wonder if their damage bonus adds up like you think. For example, the teepee hit point aura does not just add up - it multiplies.

Just to show the difference - 20 missionaries @ 5% each adding up = 100% damage bonus.

20 missionaries @ 5% each multiplying - 1.05 ^ 20 = 2.65... or 165% damage bonus.

If it's multiplicative, then it takes 14 missionaries to get 100% damage bonus, not 20. Which is 600 coin, 600 wood, and 6 pop less, just for perspective.

With new church tech, missionaries get 405 hit points and over 8 in speed (them donkeys are really moving)! I think it can be useful late game (especially with artillary considering they are boosted and healed). Early game (Colonial), when you cannot afford a missionary (building a church takes time and resources) the shipment can be better spent on resources or military. Of course, spanish get plenty of shipments.

Ouch, and I hadn't even though about Unction... now they are more OP than ever IMO.

400+ HP missionaries are tough to take down too...
Seems to me they stack too much.

Yeah i never thought about the new church upgrade tech.

405 HP Missionaries are great, with 8 speed they can just heal, and help attack percentage, then run if need be, so they dont die carelessly, which they wont.

I think 10 is worth it, always walking around with a force that can outproduce his opponent with 50% more base damage, and heal.

Maybe ES did this to compete with the native civs damage dance as it can get VERY high late game.

I think i am seriously going to consider trying to utilize Unction when i can.

With an aura of 24, having 10 or more Missionaries with Unction is very beneficial for the cost. The fact that they also heal is great also, and with the church upgrade card they have alot of health and speed.

I think i would rather have Missionaries cost 200 gold, rather than the 100 gold and 100 wood.
