- Cass are easily the best infantry unit in the game, besides OP FP, and are deadly when microed. When accompanied by the easy to ship muskets or goons, they are very powerful. Later game, they are less effective, but Ports have a strong late game with goons with ridiculous range and RG muskets and a very strong and defensive economy. The main reason you never hear of OP cass is because very few can micro them to their full ability.
- Once their economy get's going, they really can be difficult to deal with. Map control is easy with them as well.
- Two town centers and a tower means with a few walls and possibly another tower combined with CM and later on IB, means that rushing and taking down the Ports early will be no easy job.
- Excellent water boom and water control.
- Plenty of strong age3 shipments, not to mention you'll always have them ready as Ports up until later fortress, because they don't often require a defensive shipment before aging, or a 3 villager shipment.
- Two of the best age3 mercs, as many would agree, mams and ronin.
So basically, if you can micro the cass, goons, continue villager production and last long enough, you've got yourself a pretty great civ.
Are they OP/very strong to the point of Dutch, Spain or Iros ? Mmm no, but seeing as those civs are easily OP, and if and when nerfed, Ports will easily be up there.
