Even though I'm a noob, I was showing my nephew how to play AOE3 on-line on ESO. Couldn't get any bites on a Great Plains game I was trying to host. Joined a Conscript hosting a 1 v. 1 all maps, drew Caribbean. I was Brits with a level 2 city, he was Brits also, but had a more advanced London.
Within seconds of starting the game, he has 330 points! Within a couple of minutes, he lands on my island with 30 or so military units and takes down my tc. My nephew said that the opponent had cheated, takes the keyboard, and starts typing in cheat codes. My explorer was intact and so were a few settlers.
After an hour, my nephew was nanoseconds away from eliminating the opponent's last settler when he realized that the laptop had been running on battery power and was going into hibernation.
So my question is ultimately, is it possible to start with 300 point without cheating. And what justifies counter-cheating?

Disable cheats when hosting a game.
