Yep, here I go again.

Well, this one I lost, but it was fun. It was 1v1 on Ozarks, I was Russia opponent was Sioux. We both aged to Colonial around same time. Ironically, we eneded up trying to build fbs int the same spot, and he destroyed mine. Pretty soon he attacked me, the same time I attacked him. I killed of a few villys, but my army was small since my initial fb had been stopped. The Sioux player didn't take down my TC yet. But soon, his next wave took it down. My CM bought me time for my villys to run away.

So I start rebuilding to the south. I get up 3 blockhouses and begin spamming strelets. It was hilarious, you shoulda seen it. This guy goes back to his base after taking my TC. I get strelets coming in at him from all sides, and he never knows where I am going to strike next. Its all hit an run. I constrict his villys into his town, weakening his eco. I snipe at a few villys, then retreat. And the funny thing is I'm attacking from 3 places at once, so he hardly ever caches me. I do this for at least 20 minutes after he took down my TC. He says to me, "You are the most annoying person I have ever played." I just laugh.

Eventually he masses and army large enough to defend and attack my weak rebuild at the same time. I may have lost, but it was great fun, and it was excellent micro practice.

I WANT YOU to post your stories now!! Participate, people!

Well told version of the FFA, Berminator, but you missed out a crucial element. I did not help orange, I killed your guys then raised his town for myself, hehe. As for the oprichniks, I just wanted to see your profanic remarks and death threats, as I find them quite amusing when your score is half that of mine :P

Lol true. You may not have officialy helped orange, and we did kill him together in the end (my zapotecs and ur fort) but you still prevented me from killing him many times.....lol

I may have lost the game, but at least I did not lose the lesson......once you destroy an enemy's town, don't put all your focus into hunting him down (unless its a 1v1 )

Ok, I was playing a FFA on Himalayas. I was indians. The other guys were sioux, french, chinese, and japanese. Nobody really fought til about 25 minutes into the game. The japanese guy decided he wasn't prepared to sit by and let the french guy boom. (I had also checked his deck, he picked his economy deck) The french guy resigned. The sioux guy to my left was becoming a nusiance, raiding constantly with his warchief and axe riders. I walled up. I massed mahouts and send the elephant combat card and the professional handlers card. I attacked the chinese guy, knowing they have problem with anti-cav, let alone anti-mahout.I made a mansabar mahout and walked right through everything he threw at me. Keshiks, quiang pikes, changdaos, everything was crushed under my mighty elephants. He resigned soon after. The japanese guy used his informers ability and said "wtf lame elephants". The sioux guy meanwhile had killed about 45 of my vills with his tashunkee prowlers while I was busy killing the chinese dude. I made the spare population all mahouts. So I had 24 mahouts, with a mansabar. I walked right through the sioux guy also, killing his vills and slaughting all in my path. I then turned to the imperial japanese guy. He didn't know I was coming, and by this time he was still pointlessly demolishing the french guy's base. I attacked him with my mahouts. I broke his front wall and went to his rice paddies, but he had hatamoto samurais in his base, about 5 of them. They cut right through my mahouts and I had no economy left to continue playing - gg.

The moral of the story - never mass pop-heavy units like mahouts. Even though they are powerful, they are clumsy and non-versatile (try getting them all to attack a wall, you'll see what I mean )

One good FFA at the end of it. The japanese guy won.

Chinse micro

I decided to practice my micro on this one.

So I decided to play colonial hard.

I used a very basic strategy.

I tried some very complex micro which included moving 2 separate groups but keeping them together but I failed.

I made poor use of my uhlans which I should have saved up so I could do a lot of damage to his rear but didn't.

When I got to his town and began trying to take down his wonder he sent these Rattan shields which are like coyote runners and massacred my army.

I kept trying to counter but the Shields kept owning me.

Then I tried to use towers aggressively.

Which leads to my SS which is a stand off.

I achieve a Pyhrric victory destroying his castle bu losing my army in the process.

He ages leaving me to decide that I have to age also and grab culvs to counter his soon to be mortars.

I see a ton of desciples and hopes he will attack with them so I make dopples instead.

He plays smart and brings in mortars. gg.

Edit:Someone plz tell me hw to get the image to show!!!!

Played a DM-style FFA last night on a custom map. You start out on one of four islands in post-Industrial age with 4 factory wagons, a TC wagon, a large herd of deer, a clump of trees, and several gold mines. A circular trade route on each island gives you a boost. Your island is almost entirely sealed off from the central bay by a long spit of high cliff. There's a tiny gap in a random point in the barrier and this is where you must fortify to keep ships from invading. You can also build towers and walls on the barrier, but it gets a little cramped once you start building blockhouses or warhuts.

So I was being a smartass and played Sioux. Naturally, the scenario didn't let me use my Factory Wagons and I couldn't make mortars or Monitors. So I boomed to 99 + some fishing boats and went Imperial, covering every inch of my shore with warhuts, TCs, or teepees. (The decks were all entry-level default decks. No Admiralty here!)

My closest neighbor to the south was Russia. He built his blockhouses along his barrier and sent shipments of cannon and mortars to the one nearest my gap. After destroying my canoe navy, he downed the TC standing guard over the inlet and landed a bunch of Cossacks and musks on my shore. I danced up a large army of bow riders and wakinas and intercepted his forces. But not before he headed straight for my useless factory wagons, bypassing my eco and firepit, and destroyed them. After losing his invading force, he resigned. (Probably out of boredom - everyone was maximally walled in by this point, except me)

I went over to my other neighbor (Blue, French) with a big Easter basket full of Axe riders and downed his factories. He responded with a few Cuirs and then resigned.

The guy kitty-corner from me (Ports) decided he wanted Blue's coin so he landed a few buckets full of Cassadores and cannons and some ninjas. I had a stables up on Blue's island by now and was hoping to use it as a FB. So I just made more Axe and wiped Orange off the island. He responded by spamming frigates and monitors into my jolly-hole, but with no concerted attack on anything important. I finally cleared him out by just dancing up a metric ton of canoes. He resigned after I had canoes in every quarter of the map.

IMO Russia could have downed me if he had the foresight to send a galleon or three in there and lame Oprichniks onto my island. He had more than enough firepower to protect them and I was running very low on wood, getting it from the circular trade route.

It's a nice concept map and I'd love to see the Sands clan rework it so Natives can use their factory wagons. Also, the center of the map was some sort of impassable shallows. It would have been nice to have a more interesting center region with maybe some additional resources or trade sockets to fight over. Lastly, if you don't want people building monitors or howitzers, disable them and take them out of the decks. A real HC water deck with admiralty, ships, ship combat, extra towers, etc. would have been nice.

Okay, this is my first war-story worthy story.

So, I was looking for a treaty game for my advancing French HC and so I found this 1v1, a private, against a 51 frenchie. We both said hi and hit the green up button and when I got into the game I saw 'Post Industrial'. Damn. Ah well, just a little less resources I have to spend on aging up and improvements.

So we go along normally, and I have three choke points (i'm at the north) near my base: one to the south, south-west, and south-east. I build a wall, then 2 barracks and a stable, then another wall, then two outposts, then another wall. Provides a good defence. So, I sent out my spies at the measily cost of 4k (yum) and saw he was doing what I thought: A gendarme attack. I was hoping something a little more unpredictable, since he kept saying I was going to loose and I didn't know what was going to happen hahah. So, two minutes before the treaty, I whip up 50 imperial halbs and kill 35\40 of his imp gends army. I don't think he expected that.

Although, I didn't know that there was a small spot to which his army could send in a single-file line into my base right next to the edge of the map. He got in about 15-20 gends, right next to my cdb's on plantations and mills. >.< I don't think he microed, as he headed straight for the houses. My gends and halbs helped get rid of them.

So I'm spamming halbs, after he's set up two FBs almost right next to my base to attack with gends from, and almost got in twice. What happens to me usually after doing gend spamming happens to him, which is his economy gives out. After about 150-200 gends for me, my economy is down to 1k-2k food and coin. I build a foundry and stable near him, send petards in, and use gends as cover, and eventually win.

I don't win most games, so this was fun.

It twas the night of yesterday's tomorrow. In the waiting room I sized up my opponents, french, brits, india, and spanish. Me being dutch i figured I could make a running during this game as all players were around my skill level Taunt 11 and the game is under way.

Within the first 7ish minutes of the game I see an army of purple flooding into my base, which was odd because he would have had to go across the map, past a player just to get to me but anyways.

As this is an FFA game I hardly expected anyone to attack let alone with such forces so early. After her rips apart my base I send stray villies for dear life and to rebuild. The game continues, me in my little corner trying to get 600 wood with 2 villies and an explorer.

Purple kills teal, purple drops, red and yellow are going at it, at about the 20 min mark I finally have a TC again after running around the map. Incognito like I put my booming cap on, max out all banks villies and within another 5-10 mins I have surpassed their scores.

By the time they had noticed what hit them it was too late and I was left holding the trophy of sweet victory! Probably the best FFA I had ever played.

Wow first time I see a treaty war story, I was actually bored, sicne it was I did this and this and I spammed, bla bla, I recommend you play a little rush to see how fun it is in the real world where in any moment you can get owned and you don't have to spent 40 minutes upgrading.

And IM surprised you didn't make gendarmes vs artillery (Grenadiers) they may be Heavy Infantry but they have no bonus vs cavalry and halberdier no bonus vs grenadiers besides of their lower speed.

And sieging TC instead of houses isn't micro IMO, micro is on the battlefield :P .

But anyways, you seem like a potential rusher, you shoudl try it out.

When I mean micro though, he just walked past my CDB's, and could've killed them easy. That would've hurt me a lot.

Anyways, I hate what you said, about rushs - you could get owned at any second. That freaks the hell out of me. Haha. I've tried several rush games with ottos, and I just can't seem to do it. They always repel me.

Oh, and I don't think I ever said anything about grenadiers .. ? Maybe I missed something.

Another edit: Christ, it's also one of those 'you could loose at any moment'. I mean, huge groups of units, super powerful units, that train like crazy, plus forward bases everywhere, and their economy is able to handle it (usually). I just had a game like that .. If you have an entire army at another person's base, and they're hitting your base with mortars, or field gun, or gendarmes .. Urg. Usually they can cut right through and kill you by destroying your economy.

LOl you said gend and I read gren, anyways, if ottos don't work for you try either an FF, or change to a more comfortable civ, I find russians to be my civ, they just own, ottos aren't used a lot lol, if their initial rush faisl then they go kapoot and they are very map depedndant (Trading Posts).

French hussar raids
Annoying as all get-out
and then he lagged out

edit: I suppose I should clarify. 5-man FFA, French player was left to boom, so he sent a pack of 20+ hussars around to everyone's base to spread a little misery. Starting with me, but later I came back and was scouting when I heard cannon fire. He was mortaring my neighbor's base and left his raiding hussars in his FB. I drew them away with my explorer directly into a wall of Bow Riders, cleaning them out. Then I went back and munched his mortars. After a while I left with some losses. Not enough left to siege down his fb. This was when he lagged out. My neighbor showed his gratitude by spamming 100+ halbs into my base. I hit and ran them back into a nest of teepees and warhuts but with only 16 guys on the pit, couldn't make rifles fast enough to save my base. GG.

Last night was playing FFA with a friend from another clan. I was Iro, and got hit badly and never got back on my feet. Finally, a guy playing Ports came and cleaned me out. I had stealthed a FP or two around the map and still had a warhut by my friend's town, which he started to burn down but thought better of it when my last shipment arrived, a bunch of crates. He would send in his explorer and a mass of vills, I would make the warhut attack his explorer so his vills could collect the crates unmolested. Somehow I managed to get another shipment about 4 minutes later, probably from shooting his explorer down, and sent another round of 1500 res crates (I had no more villager shipments and no way to pick up any wood I sent).

Eventually he won. And just to think I almost considered backdooring him with a stables instead!
