The Zoo
All non-human, non-equine enemy units coming into within 16 map squares of the Zoo find themselves trapped inside, generating a modest XP trickle for you. Here's how it works:
Player A (India) attacks Player B with Mahouts, zamburaks, some pet tigers, and a rescued macaque. As soon as his army reaches B's base, they tread upon the invisible threshold of B's Zoo. Suddenly A loses control of all his units. His Mahouts and zamburaks dismount and become Irregulars. Their mounts go into the Zoo and now B controls several wild Elephants and wild Camels munching away in their zoo palisades, pooping out XP. Likewise, the tigers and macaques defect to the Zoo and start prowling around in their own savanna habitat and primate centre.
Player C, not paying attention, has been a busy Aztec and has a large entourage of lions, tigers, bears, and Oh My's. He saunters into B's base to raid. All of his pets become B's pets and can't attack, just sit and sun themselves and generate XP. the only survivors are the Coyote Runners and Arrow Knights, who are promptly shot down by the Zoo's ranged attack.
Player D, who doesn't have a zoo in his hometown, goes to visit Player B's zoo, along with about 40 rods and 28 pikes and his explorer with dogs. The dogs find the taste of frozen offal irresistible, and convert to the Zoo. Then Player B hits the Stampede button, and all the critters now stampede out of the zoo, and trample the rods to death and maul the pikes. The sign says, "Don't tease the animals, it makes them cranky..."
