Hi I was wondering on which units would probably be the best suited for scenarios and rated games. I am testing which units are probably the most favorited. Remember, it is completely your opinion. It falls into several categories and you do not have to answer them all if you do not want to.

But this into thought: Train Time, Splash attack, Rate of Fire, Speed, Bonuses, Population Space, Special ability (Mansabar, or building barracks/forts)

In my opinion:
Best Heavy Infantry: Imperial Jannisary

Best Light Infantry: Disciple (fu)/ Exalted Chu ko No

Best Light Cavalry: Exalted Keshik (17 RA x4Cav 1.5ROF 1pop) /Yojimbo

Best Heavy Cavalry: Imperial Gendarme

Best Light Artillery: Imperial Rambauld

Best Heavy Artillery: Imperial Great Bombard

Best Siege/Raiding Unit: Exalted Steppe Rider/ Imperial Oprichnik

Best Mercenary: Dutch Stadhouder

All nilla:

Best heavy inf: Jannisary

Best light infantry: Cassadore

Best light cavalry: Jinete

Best heavy cavalry: Spahi

Best light artillery: Abus

Best heavy artillery: Great Bombard

Best raiding unit: Oprichinks, spahis, cuirassiers

Best mercenary: Hackapells or jagers (my favorite anyways)

Gotta love how ottos have 4 of the above... -.-

Btw how can you put Russian musketeers (worst musks in the game) and dopples (overpriced) overy sepoys ashigarus and jannys? Lol?

anyway sorry for getting mad. I have tried to use Keshiks and the fact that they suck have lost me like 10 games.

My opinoun

best HF: Sepoy (monsters in colonial. like Jans but good against cav)

Best RI: Forest Prowler. These are sweet.

Best HC: lol cuirs

Best ART: Abus are most useful because they can be used in colonial (yes i am counting them as artillery)

Best Siege/Raiding unit is a dumb category because there is 1 unit made just for these.

That is to be expected. Well I kinda like the Russian Musketeer for its Fort Building ability. You only need four to build a fort near someone, and the build speed is pretty impressive. You can have up to 3/4 forts, I'm not to sure. Its stats are okay in my opinion because of the siege card for infantry making it a moderate siege unit. I also consider it pretty good because of the faster spam rate and it is cheaper that the normal ones. I don't care about damage that much, but I would consider the Jannisary the 3rd best infantry in TAD. Also the Russian eco is one of the best if you do not spam constantly.
Speedy Doppelsolders are really good siege units and can chase down Gendarmes :P. They are basically Oprichniks with anti-cav. For the cost, its okay because the German eco can take it.
I don't care much for Ashigarus that much. They do not have any special ability and the only way to train them fast is from the Daimyo. It is only for raw power, but dies really fast against Light infantry like Cassadores and cannons. Besides, the Japanese eco cannot stand spamming that much.
Jannisaries and Sepoys are rivaled at each other. They basically have the same training speed and ability. The only thing is that Jannisaries have more siege att, melee against normal units, and have huge hp, while the sepoy has more bonus against cav and a higher ranged att. But when it comes to costs, the Jannisary is better. If the Jannisary had more than one upgrade for attack and hp, it would be WAY better. (Change in ROF to 2 instead of 3 would be OP LOL)
Keshiks are pretty good if they can do the full ROF cycle. They attack twice as fast as a dragoon. It's just their hp makes them very flimsy. If they do not finish their ROF cycle, they are dead. If the Keshik could shoot while moving, instead of stopping it would be the best Ranged Cavalry ever.

Ummm no you can only build up to your fort limit which makes them practically useless.

Dopples are okay but they get slaughtered by ranged HI or LI. German eco isn't worth justifying the overpricedness. Opris cost less, have more siege, more villager attack and are a good amount faster.

TAD Discussion is probably better for this topic. I don't see how you could argue against any of my nilla choices, it should be pretty obvious. (Maybe mercenary discussion or LI)

Okay I changed my mind about the Heavy infantry, I changed it to Jannisary because they are in my opinion the most balanced. Good at siege, melee, shooting, hp, and building. Thanks for clarifying that. And yeah, your choices for vanilla are probably the best.

Jannisaries would also be my choice for best overall unit in the game. They are such a solid unit, otto
players automatically have an advantage every time they go into battle with jannys.

Best LC - Ruyter *

Best LA - Organ Gun
Best HA - Heavy Cannon

Best Siege/Raid Unit - Legendary Dog Soldier
Best Merc - Swiss Pikeman / Highlanders.

Best Heavy: (ranged) Highlander, (melee) Ronin
Best Light infantry: hmmm maybe french skirmishers, though i dont remember if german had cards for them too
Best Light Cavalry: War wagons
Best Heavy Cavalry: Spahis
Best Light Artillery: Abus guns
Best Heavy Artillery: Bombards
Best Raider: Dog soldiers followed by oprichs
Best Mercenary: for me Elmeti, improved lancers

how many times has similar threads come up?
nothing to add except in the merc area. im a merc freak.
when it comes to absolutely game changing mercs i think that mams and jeagers take it. i also like highlanders alot but imo they just dont do what the other two i mentioned can do. ronin are crazy good on paper but for 1000g i dont think that they are really as good as they look.

look at their f*cking hp. fail

Best light cav imo would be Bow Riders

Hmm wouldnt rifle riders be a better option for the sioux due its many bonus stats. But ye bow riders are epic to use in suprem because of the no negative multiplier

HI - ashi
*LI - CKN (old Han reforms)
Heavy cav- gendarmes
Light cav- port goons ( range card)
Art- heavy cannon
Siege unit- port mortars range card is lol

Imperial spahis have just as many hitpoints, and hackapells have 4x the attack.

I love mamelukes, but not the best cav in the game...

Well I didn't count them because they are hc and lc hence being kinda different. In fortress rifles are better for sure.

mams are certainly not the best cav in the game, but at early fortress, the time they usually come out. if you send them your opponent is gonna know you sent them. they are really good when used in a FF or semi FF. problem with hackapels is what they have in damage they lack in HP. they are really good, but they would most probably be dead sooner that mams. that being said there are surely times where they might be more usefull that mams, but overall mams make a better merc imo. spahis might be a differenty issue, thing is, i see them as more of a ottoman unique unit than a merc, but since you pay for them maybe they could be seen as mercs.

Mamelukes are the ones with like 1000 hp, right? Haven't played a game since last summer, but if so, they're up there. Hackapells have too little hp, and die easily for a mercenary.

The only ever civ i see bringing mamelukes is the portugese.
