As for a list of the animations, I should have one by the end of today. I'm going to uncompress the art bars (like over a gig of them) and try to find the names of the animations so we can start to mess around with the new characters in the editor. As for unlocking the camera:
I just got the game and like everyone says, there's no Ctrl-alt-c camera unlock. I am working on this problem but I really don't know if changing it requires altering the game code or whether this is in the realm of a patch.
Anyway, by changing the game.cfg file you can zoom in all the way, but adjusting the zoom out max doesn't do anything. Adjusting the pitch angles doesn't do anything either. Also, changing the game.cfg causes OSS errors (since other people's .cfg then won't be the same as yours). The thing is, the hotkey mapping code does make a reference to the ctrl-alt-c command but yet those key strokes don't do anything. Also, if you look at the "stone library" scenario, there are camera angles that are low to the ground (extra zoom and pitch control) that's outside the default settings. In other words, the game can do these camera angles without going OSS, but I am not sure how, at this point, ES did it. Unfortunately I don't see any files for the camera moves and I cannot open the .scn files with any tools I have. I am sure the clues are in there, but at this time, I am not sure where exactly. Oh, by the way, you can view the new campaign scenarios by simply copying the .scn file from the aom3/campaign folder into the mygames, aoe3/scenario folder. Weeeee, so easy and we get to see ES's handiwork up close.
Also, fixing the OSS problems after you mess around with the game.cfg file may require re-installing all the game files so it's not a good option.
This really pissed me off. ES surely knows we all love making cinematics, with close-ups, and they even went as far as doing it in the campaign. Yet why are they making it so hard for us modders to emulate it? Damn, one or two lines in the read me file is all it would take to explain it. Now we all have to spend hours farting around trying to solve this problem instead of working on our scenarios. We'll solve it, just that there is all this un-necessary anxiety and time lost searching through billions of files. Anyone try asking ES this question, like maybe on their forums or in a post to Super Troopers? Would it be a waste of time to ask? Hey AOM Player.
