Any of the foriegners who came wouldn't have lasted long. Going from sweltering heat to freezing cold drenching rain, all while in a marsh and in the middle of a tactical excersize is not the best conditions. Throw in a few hundred billion mozzies and pitch black darkness and you have a good deal of the camp.
