So today there was a link to a Hitler parody on the front page of Sweden's most respected national newspaper.
I don't understand media these days. Recently I've come across long articles on Rickrolling and disputations on lolcats. And done so in a perfectly serious manner. I was dumbstruck the other day when an acquaintance who considers himself immensely avantgarde suddenly ended a sentence in leetspeak.
I mean come on. As if the blatant appropriation of Internet subculture and the severing of it from its natural context isn't annoying enough, the way everyone is making a Mount Everest of these molehills is really starting to piss me off. It's just teenagers joking around with nerd references, not the beginning of a paradigm shift towards post-national metaculture.
Is this a Sweden-only phenomenon? Because I would gladly pick up another site for my daily news read. If I wanted to see a Hitler parody I'd go to OD.

We don't ever get that sort of thing unless it's been a particularly slow day for Today Tonight. They usually report utter rubbish as it is though.
