Hmm, that sounds like a very time consuming way of archiving, you would have thought it would have been outsourced to India by now.

This month I have mostly been playing Zelda Breath of the Wild
Steam - Maffia GFWL - Maffia01 YouTube - HGMaffia Twitter - @HGMaffia
Age of Empires 3 Heaven Seraph

Archiving threads was a "feature" from the boards originally, not something we wrote specifically for HG. I suppose, as someone pointed out earlier in the thread, it was to avoid necroing of threads by search engines.

But nowadays most websites implement this feature specifically to make the life of Meteora harder.

I think a more important and expensive upgrade would be better forum software, not server space. And apparently they are working on this already. No dates or details, but it's supposedly on the radar.
Since I first came here, they have been promising major software updates. Since first coming here, the only upgrades they have ever made were all excedingly minor feature upgrades. Skype and gravatar integration, the fact that signatures on old posts update when you change sigs instead of archiving your old ones. Also the bbcode bar seems to be more compatible with other browsers than IE but I'm not sure if that's just browser updates or not.

I realise that this forum has been customised to hell and back underneath but it still has an incredibly retro list of forum features and anyone who has spent some time here has long since stopped holding their breath.

I kind of preferred the old signature model where they were archived. It was a great system that established a cool timeline.

That would be an embarrassing reminder of the dozen or so scenarios I started (and announced) and never finished.

Also Avatars and youtubes.

and tons of backend things you people don't care about.

I still think it's insane we don't have PMs though.

Yeah. you should get those. And, while you're at it, a chat function for other people online, either a private chat between two people, or a general "chat room" for everyone who happens to be online.

We had an IRC channel back in the AOMH days. Nobodyh used it except Mete, Tyme and I. We spent 4 hours talking about canadians once.

raw vs cooked seal. Screen doors on igloos (much debate there). Something about empty wells and porch lights.

Wait, Canadian topics of discussion are sometimes quite profound. Like Moosehead vs. Molson vs. Kokanee.

Not quite what I meant... I didn't really know what to call it. But like the top of the TE site. TE Site

Something like IM for a whole group of people (whoever happens to be online). So, uh, what do you call that?
