I am posting this game in response to a new Brit player, who wants to see a Brit Build that will help him improve his strategy ( http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=15,32879,0,10 ). This is somewhat of a fairly typical Brit build. This is in no way an "end all be all strategy" and my build and decks are a little different now and, of course, both my strategy and deck choice change in relation the dynamics of a game. It should, moreover, give you the tools that allow you to construct your own build.

LittleGopher has a fairly good concept regarding a Gren rush, but thankfully, I had the 5 hussars shipment in my deck, by the time his second wave came in, else I am certain he would have won. His focus on building these unit types caused his eco to lag behind mine greatly (grately ;-), which eventually led to his demise. I have been playing AOE for over 10 years now, so even though he is a 2nd Lt and I am only a Lance Corporal (which may have led him to think he might have had an "easy win"), I don't think the rankings in this situation really come into play. It is nice to note that his overall deck arrangement was much different at the time of this game, and that now it looks more like mine used to when you check his HC online ;-)

As you can tell, since I am booming in general, I don't care if he takes out my villagers. My reason for this is that if/when he decides to focus his military units on them, its less resources he can use to take out my military units (and I'm in "boom", so villagers are pretty much being constantly produced/replaced).

This build is based on builds of recorded games I've played and rewatched against rebel_leroy and White_IrishKing, and some of BeatnikJoe's Strategies (White-IrishKing is definely the stronger of the two).

This game unfortunately goes out of sync just after 10minutes, which is before the end of the game. Even still, it contains everything you need to see how a good, solid Brit build works - regardless of the unit typs you end up building overall - and then begin to develop and modify your own build. This build can be modified to build muskets instead of LBs or whatever...it just depends on how you assess the game and the adjustments you make in the process.

My "micro" skills in this game should be sufficent for new Brittish Player or rooks+ and under to appreciate.

The reason I devote so many resources to wood during the transition to Colonial is because I will have plenty of food resources from my age-up shipment (500 from the philospher prince) and how I send my shipments in general in this game; this allows me to concentrate villager production on wood for house booming, which is necessary to any good British strategy in general). Note how I try not to let house building (booming) interefere with my LB production and vice vera (and try to keep both going simultaneously), although there are a few times when I should be queing LB's or building houses, but my attention is focused on my explorer, who is collecting resource treasures for my stockpile. Note that in the heat of battle I stop producing vils from my TC, when I should have kept pupming them out and created a gather point behind my TC. Also, this is more of a defensive strategy than an offensive or aggressive one: I want him to come to me until my economy is in full boom, in which case I then would take the fight to the enemy (as I did in the game :-).

Please comment with your thoughts on this build, since it will defintely help others and might help me to notice something I ma have overlooked. Also, I will defintely check back to answer any questions.

Good luck and have fun!
