The Kharlan Tournament

Author File Description
Mouse Overlord The Kharlan Tournament:

Hoping to win himself some few thousand coin, Calek enters a seemingly ordinary tournament hosted somewhere in North Carolina. Simply killing some competitors and leaving with the money will be too easy for Calek to fail at. But why does the tournament host own an army? And what is the cause of the nearby colony's hostility towards the tournament? When a competitor disappears and an army attacks the tournament grounds, matters become slightly more complicated...

Although The Kharlan Tournament employs normal, simple RPG gameplay, the simplicity will be enough to keep your attention for at least 45 minutes. And though the main character is the most important unit you will have, at several points throughout the game you will be controlling a small army or a mercenary, increasing the level of strategy required, but not making the game frustrating or impossible to beat.
----------------------------------------------
Installation Notes:

-Put the .age3scn file and the .bak file into your "my documents/my games/age of empires 3/scenario" folder.
-Put the ENTIRE "Kharlan Sounds" folder into "C:program files/microsoft games/age of empires 3/sound" folder.

All directory names are listed assuming that you used the default installation directories.

Then just go to the single player menu, click the "Custom Scenario" option, and click "The Kharlan Tournament
V1 ~ ArchNidhogg", and play!

---------------------------------------------
For Best Gameplay Experience:
-Make sure that when playing AOE3, you experience NO LAG. This scenario has 16 cinematics, and any small bit
of lag will make the scenario completely unenjoyable. To reduce lag, turn to your graphics options. However,
make sure to leave "High Poly Models" on!
-Save your game every so often. You never know when you may die... and you don't want to have to start over!

I loved how you could hire a merecenary, though I honestly wished I could've hired a small party, giving me better chances in fights

Balance: 4
The race to get a merecenary is a bit tough in the begining, and protecting the other fighters till they get their weapons is a hassle

Creativity: 5
The whole thing was wonderful, from the comments to the characters themselves

Map Design: 4
I loved how you paid attention to detail, and didn't keep everything flat. I like the river since it made it seem everything more real

Story/Instructions: 4
The story was excellent, though the reasons for the rebellion could've been explained, and overall, things could've been a bit more detailed in their reasons

Wasn't impossable but wasn't too simple. I played this thing over and over, it was probobly the most fun I ever had playing an RPG on AoE3

Balance: 5
Again, not impossable, but hard, especially at the start when you had to get enough gold before the next round to get a Mercanry. No Merc, and it was impossable to win.

Creativity: 5
Very nice idea, an interactive tournament was just what this community needed as a brake from the more common and repetitive games. Very Fun.

Map Design: 4
Nice job at spicing up the map, Default Grass = Boring, but I did have a problem wtih simply getting my units to go to the right place, damn terrain is like a maze at first site.

Story/Instructions: 5
Very nice story, never had a time where I was lost and didnt know what to do. Absolutly perfect in this catagory.

Additional Comments:
Overall a helluva nice map. Very fun, played this numerous times.

Great! had some hard times, but still had alot of fun!

Balance: 5
Hard, but good balance. Tactics are needed at the end battle

Creativity: 5
Great idea! never played a scenario like this. Really enjoyed it.

Map Design: 4
Map was oke, some basic stuff and the waves are strange. Its not on the second healing point tho. The different hights made it look like maze. Good pont.

Story/Instructions: 5
Great story, well connected. Ending was oke. Small battle but skills needed to make it.

Great Scenario.
