No original files are replaced. Just follow the three simple steps below...
These must be installed prior to following the steps:
- Age of Empires3
- The War Chiefs
- New Editor2 (download here)
After installing Reyk's 'New Editor2' go into your /program files/Microsoft games/AOE3/Data folder and rename 'uimainnew' files to 'uimainnew(backup)'.
There may only be one file called uimainnew.xml.xmb but check to see there isn't a uimainnew.xml file which also needs to be renamed if in that folder. So they'll look like this:
Move the typetest_ReykNeep.xml file in our zip into the trigger2 folder found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\trigger2. This should be placed in the folder alongside the original typetest.xml that came with The War Chiefs.
The waterbodies.xml in the zip needs to be copied into your Data folder.
It is located in the C:/program files/Microsoft games/AOE3/Data folder. This is a new file and does not overwrite any originals.
That's it, installation complete!
The following info is just for your reference:
Our testing showed that this patch could be added after Reyk's New Editor2 was installed over TWC.
Although it is advised Reyk's editor should be installed before TWC. This patch is to be installed last.
If you decide to remove Reyk's editor, go to your computers 'add/remove programs' option in Control Panel and uninstall 'New A0E3 Editor 2'. After uninstalling Reyk's editor you should delete the waterbodies.xml file you added to the data folder in step two. That's it.
The typetest_ReykNeep.xml for trigger2 folder in this patch..
Will take care of the AI issues that have been known to pop up,
When loading a custom scenario from the singleplayer/custom scenario panel,
and when loading an ai into the editor when using Warchiefs disc.
The waterbodies.xml of this patch..
Will take care of the water and terrain issues(Not showing up)
during regular game play. Also you now will be able to use the two new
rivers that reyk's editor offers.
The uimainnew files are renamed simply because we found they interfered with the user interface and led to a lot of bugs. This means some features are removed from Reyks editor.
