North American Theater v3.30
Will work with all 3 versions of the game - AOEII, TWC and TAD.
NEW:
* Additional defensive building upgrade (Brick Fortifications) - depends on Bastion and Star Fort being upgraded first. Thank you to Tyranick for the suggestion.
* Cossack gets a carbine.
* Different hats for american and canadian snipers.
* British get Cannon instead of Rocket
* British, USA, CSA, Canada & Russia get Hale Rocket, which has a huge range but LOS is half the range - as is the auto attack range. Needs a spotter to target objects beyond LOS.
This is called the North American Theater (NAT) because the mod is focused on developments in North America from the end of the French-Indian Wars in 1763 through to the late 19th century. The mod includes most civilizations that experienced military conflict with the new United States of America.
Here is a summary of the civilizations covered with the date and name of the conflict:
USA The focus nation of most battles in North America during the period.
British 1775, the American Revolution and 1812, the War of 1812
Ottomans 1801, the First Barbary War and 1815, the Second Barbary War
Canada 1812, the War of 1812
Mexico 1846, the Mexican American War
CSA 1861, the American Civil War
Spanish 1898, the Spanish American War
Sioux Various conflicts
Iroquois Various conflicts (mostly when allied with British/Canadians)
Aztecs No known conflicts with the US
Russian No known conflicts with the US
These civilizations will function with the AI and new Home Cities can be created.
The primary focus is on the American Civil War, which represents a time of major change in technologies and tactics. There were also a large number of battles in this war, with significant records being kept. It was the desire to create scenarios for this period that inspired creation of the NAT mod, although it has been completed in a way that will enable the traditional AI skirmishes to be played. ESO multiplayer gaming will not be possible but LAN based multiplayer games should be.
Please read the documentation supplied with the NAT Installer for more details of the changes included.

buddhoo: You must be running the vanilla version. The conversion of treasure guardians was only introduced with TWC.
There are no Bounty Hunters in NAT because they would not animate correctly. Not sure why, but they looked quite funny when they were shooting - jumping up out of the saddle.

The one problem: balloons. Hot air balloons totally ruin it. They are too strong, and aircraft wars don't fit the time period at all.
Also its annoying that the Confederates can only be played in Deathmatch games.[Edited on 10/10/07 @ 03:28 PM]

Mowen Man: I am sorry you do not the like balloons. If you are familiar with the scenario editor, you can play skirmishes and forbid the use of balloons.
Not sure what you mean by only playing deathmatch for Confederates. If you have a problem using the supplied CSA homecity, try creating a new one, just as in the standard game.[Edited on 10/10/07 @ 10:09 PM]

This mod is awsome, but can you put the gatling gun back with the usa, and the partisans, I think the partisans are alot better than the spys, they look cooler too. Or is there a way i can put them back myself? |

mailboxbilly: Thank you for reporting a bug, which I have fixed with v3.11. Not sure how the gatling gun got missed - you will also find it a bit more powerful in this version.
Re the spy, you must have been reading my mind. I am thinking of changing the appearance of the spy to that of the partisan. I find the spy a little uninspiring. However, I have not fully decided on that yet.[Edited on 11/13/07 @ 12:40 AM]

Yeah, The first U.S mod had the partisans and the US got the gatling gun too, And in the civil war the Union or the U.S had more gatling guns than the south so that would make it more historically correct. But the partisans would be alot better than the spies, The spies are just too dull. |

hazardous: There are many differences but some are more subtle than others. Overall, there is more than 1000 hours of additional work in the NAT mod. In a sense, NAT is an updated version of AOE3MODS but with a theme to it.
An couple examples of differences is that NAT is more balanced, with the AI making use of the baloons and other new units. In addition, the emphasis is on ranged units, with a significant range increase for most units late in the game. |
