Un'goro crater.

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: TWC
This is a very large map where you play the Spanish, and have to vanquish 7 moderate opponents. The map is beautiful, as I put many hours of work into it. One trade route and 5 native villiages are present. The Aztec, Inca, Maya, Seminole and Carib tribes are there. The map is based on Un'goro crater, a popular zone in the World of Warcraft MMORPG.
When I first discovered the Scenario Editor I was under the impression the map I made would be able to be used in the Network games I play with my friends. We all played World of Warcraft back then and I thought they would all get a big laugh out of it. Upon learning they could only check it out as single players, I decided someone should enjoy this map. I hope you agree how gorgeous it is.

The file that you uploaded was missing the extension ‘age3Xscn’, so it was unplayable.
I therefore added the extension to it and uploaded the fixed file.

For the future try not to remove the extension or your scenario will not work.

I noticed that your map is really big – 1000 x 1000 is huge and will probably cause some lag as the game progresses.
I normally try not to go over 500 x 500.

I also noticed that you have no triggers in your scenario.
I would therefore recommend that you take a look at the “Scenario Design Library” sticky thread in the “Scenario Design” forum.
You will find there a lot of information about triggers.

Thank you,

AN_Nuisance I'm not actually putting in a review on this for a couple of reasons...

1) The map really isn't a scenario.
2) I'd have to ream it and the map is really quite good with a lot of work put into it.

As Moshe says the map is GINORMOUS! OMG...my scout dog took about 5-6 minutes to run around the edge! As the game progresses...like into age 2-3 for comps....the lag begins. The comps build warships which doesn't help.

The map design is fine...good layout... elevations... treasures etc...but waaaaaaaaay too big!

No instructions or story at all to speak of. Nothing as to why we are where we are...and why all the Indians are teamed against us. I found this long to win simply because the comps...though they age slowly....are so split up on the map they can get to age 3 and bring some really decent attacks. Even 3-4 comp armies (out of a possible 7 depending on how many aren't already dead) in age 3 can be a challenge...which I guess is the point, but the map again is waaaaay too big and it literally takes FOREVER to kill everyone off.... Also there are no triggers at all...it is basically a frickin gigantic skirmish map.

Cool, someone played it. I wish I new more about scenario triggers. Thanks for the help again Moshe.
If you Google Un'Goro crater, you'll see how similar the map is to that zone in WOW. Sorry about the lag. I only played it enough to test it.
I most likely won't make a scenario again. It would be cool to learn how to make random maps for multiplayer though.
Commando730 i havent tried the game yet, being that im quite busy right now, but why are you quitting making scenarios? in a while, you could get really good at it...

I think I would rather make radom map scripts. It's a lot harder to do I understand though. I didn't even play much of the single player game. I did several chapters to practice, and then went right into multiplayer.

gunner1 you do know we will have multiplayer scenarios next patch?
File Author
Gunner, do you refer to the Age of Dynasties expansion? That would be so cool.
gunner1 no. i refer to the next patch

Hmmm, if we can do multiplayer scenarios then, perhaps I might make one for 1vs1. I would have to see what kind of triggers are interesting.

I figured out why Moshe needed to add the file extension. I couldn't be sure that the Scenario would start as player one, and so I play tested it while it was set for player one, and at moderate difficulty. When I resigned, It started over. That is what I saved, and uploaded.
