Rebellion- fight the british

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: TWC
You are a small canadian colony who has recently revolted from the British Crown. They are currently caught up in the American Revolution, but nevertheless have sent a force to recapture you. The only thing that has stopped them so far is the small river in front of your city...but it is on the verge of being breached. Draw your guns and fight to the last to defend your colony!

This game, while it says it is for TWC, is compatible with both game versions. I have also increased the difficulty level as well as started off the Crown with a great city.Hopefully it will be much more challenging than my previous scenarios.

to play, extract the contents of the folder to my documents/my games/age of empires 3/scenario

Hope you have fun!

i noticed some bugs...such as the fact that it doesnt take you to the main menu after victory, there are no treasures, and that you dont start off with an explorer....ill fix it and post an updated version by the end of today...

Map Design2.0
Playability: 4
It's playable but see balance and map design for more

Balance: 2
No balance at all. Even though the crown has a big army at the beginning...you can age up to 4 easily and use monitor ships to own all the big army the Crown started with...they never attack. You can also own a large amount of their buildings from the river. The map should be bigger... Also The Crown never really builds villagers much so you can out eco them like crazy.

Creativity: 3
The idea is good but the map design causes issues...

Map Design: 2
Its not that the map is bad...it just needs to be big enough so you can't slam everything with monitors. There is eye candy and treasures...but not much in terrain elevation.

Story/Instructions: 3
The story is ok and there isn't much need for instructions

Additional Comments:
My main thing is the map size...maybe if it was bigger and red's army didn't start as close to the beach then you couldn't own the whole army with the ships.

hmm, ok, you do have a point with the map size.... i suppose that is the main reason of the poorer rating? ill see if i can fix that....is there a way to make the map bigger without doing it over again?

You can increase the map size by clicking on the “World” menu and then on “Map Size”.

Normal maps are 200x200, so just type 50 for all sides and the map will change to 300x300.

In order to make the scenario fun you need to make it challenging but not too challenging.

You will need to give the AI opponent new units periodically if the AI has no economy.
You also need to counter attack the player.

For example, you can place a dock and a few outposts near the AI’s base to counter against ships.

The player can use Monitors to take an outpost down in one shot so you can place a trigger where you ask if any of these outposts “Is Dead”, then deploy a Frigate next to the dock to counter attack against the monitors.
That is when it is starting to be fun.

The AI’s army should attack the player periodically to keep him on his toes.
So you can issue separate “Deploy Army” triggers with a “Timer” and send them to the player’s base via the “Army move …” effect.

You need to make sure to assign the “Age3AI” AI to the AI player so the triggers will work.

There is a lot of things you can do with triggers.
Check out the “Scenario Design Library” thread in the “Scenario Design” forum.
You can learn a lot from there.

thank you very much, MosheLevi.
i probably wont add anything to this scenario, but i will release a sequel to my regicide map that will have a lot more things.
AN_Nuisance Excellently Put Moshe...the issue for me with map size is that you can nearly shell all of reds base and never go ashore...if there were more space and the town was un-shellable then you would need to land and then go after the town which would be better...Also red starts with a bunch of mercs, gats, and even a couple rockets...if you scaled that way back and had a crossing in the river somewhere the ai would attack...with the river and no crossings the ai just sits...
