Blackcreek Mercenaries IV

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: AoE3+TWC+TAD
In 1852 the leader of a well-known mercenary organization called "Blackcreek Mercenaries" was assassinated while on a mission in England. Ten years have come and gone, and Blackcreek Mercenaries has a new leader. This new leader (played by you) is embarking on a mission to find out who was responsible for the assassination.

Travel from North Carolina to Tahiti, fight in the Civil War, and blow the Russians off the face of the earth (alright, you don't ACTUALLY blow up Russia). What could be more fun?
This custom scenario would more appropriately be called a "custom campaign", since there are a total of 12 maps! Lots of cinematics and trigger tricks. And I mean a LOT. Most of the maps are of moderate difficulty, with some exceptions.
You don't need to have played any previous "Blackcreek Mercenaries" scenarios in order to play this one. It's mostly independent from the earlier scenarios.

Since you're a mercenary organization, you have no fixed civilization! That means that you get to play as the Spanish, the United States, the Japanese, AND the Indians!

In order to play this you must have both The Warchiefs (plus the latest patch, which is version 1.04 I think) AND the Asian Dynasties (no patch).

Additional information that you'll need to know is in the text file that's included in the zip folder.

Please, feel free to comment and/or rate!

If anybody has any problems playing this scenario, such as "scenario is way too hard (or impossible)" or "objective was too confusing" or some other problem, please post a comment detailing the problem so that I can start working on a fix ASAP. Thanks:)

randomjack Well, Sawyer, I'm very impressed. You're learning very quickly. I have played up to the Japan level. I like your originality (like that fixed gun part)
and your maps themselves run well and smoothly. If you want me to give you little tips on ways to improve more, just ask.

Glad you liked it! As always, tips would be much appreciated :)

randomjack Okay, then, just a few things that would be nice improvements.

#1: Use appropriate music, with the music filename trigger. It goes to the file with every track in the game.

#2: For beginning/ending cutscenes in levels, use user control off, rather than cinematic mode.

#3: Just an idea, but in cinematics with battles, it looks much better when you lower units health. This makes them die with 1 or 2 hits, and looks very realistic. Do this with modify protounit.

Dont take these as insults; the campaign is awesome: Im on the Japan level

Thanks, good advice. I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I create Blackcreek Mercenaries V.

P.S. By the way, no offense taken.
yebai its a good scenario... awesome!!!

but please help im gettin some problems. When a certain file ends it does not continue to the next, like when the act beginning ends when i choose sides it says like "act 1b failed to ...". Please help thanks!

Try re-copying the files into your "scenario" folder.
If that doesn't work you'll have to load the files manually. The files are mostly in an alphabeticall order (except one or two) so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
File Author
On second thought, try re-downloading the entire file.

Also, make sure ALL the ".scn" files are in the "scenario" folder

Playability: 4
Solid playability on this scenario...it's tough to rate a whole campaign...but I'll do my best. I'll try to add comments for specific maps in the correct areas.

Balance: 4
All in all it seemed very well balanced overall. A couple levels seemed easy and a couple were pretty tough. The Civil War map comes to mind. The endless skirms were a tough pull and the fact that you could not destroy their forward towers and they could destroy yours was a bit of an annoyance...there was also endless cavalry charges at the end that was interesting as well.

Creativity: 4
Great job overall on the creativity. There was a decent storyline that you could follow and the objectives were definitely creative enough. There was an issue I found on the Indian Level with the Agra Fort...it said to destroy the weapons cache and see what happens...(On the west side) and I was unable to attack the weapons cache to make them blow up.

Map Design: 4
The only issues I had with maps were that on most of them there were no treasures at all and very little eye candy....that being said, on most maps the elevations were varied and the layout was very good. I did have one question about Tahiti though...why is the French base under water?

Story/Instructions: 4
Finally a scenario...with a storyline to follow! The in game instructions were clear and easy to follow. The fact that the scenario was more like a campaign added to the continuity of the story. Nice Job...

Additional Comments:
Overall a really great job...fun to play guys! Worth the download! ;)

The french base was underwater just for fun.

Anyway, thanks for the rating :)
and I'm glad you liked it.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's going to be a "Blackcreek Mercenaries V". You see, I'm completely out of ideas. Maybe I could farm the series out?
