This random map script is almost 100% identical to the original 'Amazonia' script by Ensemble Studios. It contains just a single additional statement to ensure trade routes are created on both sides of the river, a point players have repeatedly complained about.

There are two possibilities to install this map:
Copy the two files 'Amazonia Fair Trade.xml' and 'Amazonia Fair Trade.xs' into the game folder '..\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM' (NOT into '..\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\RM'!). You can then play it by checking the 'Custom Map' box on the map selection screen and then selecting it from the pulldown menu.
Copy the file 'Amazonia.xs' into the folder '..\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\RM', replacing the original one. You can then play it both in single player or multiplayer mode by selecting it from the normal pulldown menu.
WARNING: Overwriting the original map will lead to problems when playing online with people who use the original 'Amazonia' map. It is recommended only for people who don't play online.

Note: Due to a weakness in ES's implementation the standard game AI won't build docks on the 'Amazonia Fair Trade' map. So this version is for all-human multiplayer games only, unless you use an improved AI like my DraugurAI (available for download at aoe3.heavengames.com). If the original 'Amazonia' map is replaced as described above the standard AI works fine though.

UPDATE, March 11 2006:
As patch 1.05 has become available I have updated this script to include a tooltip description for the map selection screen as well as a proper description for the game loading screen.

RF_Gandalf Did you change the unfair native placement also - natives only are scripted for one side if the river also?

I killed two birds with one statement, ah, stone there. If there are trade routes on both sides, then so are natives. On the original map, natives could go to one side and the trade route to the other.
mrrags1 You've done a nice job on the trade & native situation but AI still seems to lack the concept of boat building and transporting troops to invade. Is there anything that can be done about that part??

Thanks for cleaning up the other problem though!!

I'm working on an update for the game's AI which should take care of some problems, including the bad handling of naval maps. This is not something that can be solved in a random map script.
