The Great Dynasty

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: AoE3+TAD
In 1644 the Ming Dynasty, under the leadership of the Chongzhen Emperor fell to a mix between a rebel army led by Li Zicheng and constant Japanese attacks in the north. In this scenario you play as Japan, storming the beaches and hopefully crushing the Ming Dynasty. Though it was Li Zicheng and his rebels who handed the final blow to the Ming Dynasty, we hope to change history a bit with the final blow coming from Japan.

This is my first scenario and I am very proud of it. I have added a Moderate version and a Hard version. I hope you enjoy, I am eager to hear reviews, good or bad!

Map Design5.0
Playability: 5
I don't see how it wasn't playable.

Balance: 4
I think it was balanced. I just beat it on the easier version later I will try the harder one. The Chinese start with a large fortress but you start with a very large supply of resources. I think that makes it even because you can't just immediatly storm the fortress because you are in discovery age.

Creativity: 5
The whole time I played I was thinking the little country of Japan is destroying a Chinese Empire. So I thought it was pretty original.

Map Design: 5
For your first scenario this was a very good map. I liked the Chinese base. Also the eyecandy was quite nice.

Story/Instructions: 4
I give you a 4 because it had very clear instructions. Form an alliance with monks, Destroy the wonders, kill the emporer. Very clear.

Additional Comments:
I liked the scenario very much. I hope that you will make many more scenarios. I have a question is this historically accurate or made up? Either way it is still good.

it is what I would classify as "historical fiction" Historically the Ming dynasty was destroyed by many things. Japan played a large part, but the final blow came from Li Zicheng a Chinese general who rebelled. He makes an appearance in this scenario if your army ever gets too thin. just a little easter egg for you... look up the chongzen emperor or the ming dynasty on wikipedia to get the full story for real/
KevTheGreat correct me if i am wrong but after the ming dynasty did the republic of china begin? or was that later
huntertheduck No it was the Qing dynasty. The Shun dynasty came before that but that was very short. But you were close, the ming dynasty pretty much came before it. I found the source here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_dynasties
KevTheGreat k thx
vi3tboi hi i'm new at this so after i download the scenario how do i load it to play or where i save the file is it in the game or......

huntertheduck Hey vi3tboi you need more details about your rating. If you give it a 5 good. Explain why it deserves a 5. Wait have you even played it yet. Well here is how you install it. Open documents, open my games, open age of empires 3, and then drag the great dynasty to the scenario folder. As much I think Smurfinablender would like to have a 5 rating I think this is an unfair review. Unless this guy changes his.
Todd_Lang Not to put the scenario down or anything, but that 5 isn't acceptable. Sure, 4.3 is, but 5 has only EVER been reached about 2 times before. 5 would means cinematic, and possibly hours of gameplay! Just don't give thing's 5 mate.

This is a great scenario!

Rating retracted - I'm guessing it was posted accidentally if he hasn't even played it.

Would any of you fellas be interested in some sort of reviewing "squad" that would be handled over our forums?
huntertheduck I would like to. But I can't be monitoring all day. Being on the computer for hours gives me a headache.

Also that guy might have meant to push comment but accidently pushed review.
