I am putting my portuguese defence strategies in a incredible record game, where i louse my colony and with only a big army i destroyed the two moderate enemy colony alone.
I wait some comments.

Started the game fine - hunting, housing etc.
Scouting - A bit bizzare to me as I tend to circle my initial TC so I get a better overview on nearby hunt locations, treasures, gold mines, dense forests etc. You seemed to not scout much of the area around. You started mining Gold a bit too early for my liking, as more focus could have been on gathering food to age up and pay for vills.

Hunting was kept flowing but gradually away from the base. It is Ideal to try and lure the hunted animals towards your base (get vills to shoot from other side) so the vills can quickly escape to the TC if any raids were to come. Nearing the end of discovery (I think) I found you had more miners than Lumberjacks (for a short time) which should be the other way around in this stage of the game.

Ageing up was pretty late as you well surpassed 15 Vills before exiting Discovery. Then I couldn't believe my eyes as you called up Minutemen twice during discovery and colonial. This is a waste of gold as you weren't being attacked and the minutemen decrease down to 1 HP fairly quickly - they are useless in defending unless your under immediate attack.

When you did age up you sent your Covered Wagon to build too close to your first TC for my liking (my liking lulz). It could have been placed more strategically, such as: Very close to a hunt location, close to a mine, forward base - to start building a fortified position nearer the enemy base (meh. .) etc.

You then allied with a nearby Native settlement and created some Lakota axe riders costing no pop for some strong cavalry - good move. But I then found that later you didn't use these to guard your base - as it was already guarded (fair enough) - but you could have used them - along with your EXPLORER - to scout more as you hadn't found the enemy base at this point.

After ageing up to Fortress you started walling in your `Eco Base` which is a good idea to keep a solid unhindered Economy but at the cost of quite a lot of resource. I could then see that you were very defensive as you started fortifying everything with outposts and walls which again is quite a costly maneuover and with a good balance of artillery and infantry can quite easily be outranged and taken down - it is probably better to use units to guard and fortify.

Eventually, I found a military base being built up - right next to your Eco base further away from the enemy than your original TC! You should build your military bases forward and as close to the enemy as possible so when it is the time to attack you can keep sending in units, wave after wave. At this point I looked back to your Lakota axe riders only to find them still Idle in the same place :O.

You started building up a force of cavalry and artillery which looked a good combination as it was infantry artillery so you could sweep up the Infantry while the cavalry take down other artillery/cavalry/less resistent Infantry etc.

Before closing to continue to write I noticed a covered wagon - got at age up to fortress - was still unbuilt hidden in a corner of the eco base _ you could have used this to make another base around some hunts, mines to gather in some more resources. . .

(Sorry I couldn't do the whole game as it was just too long for me xD)

Overall, you started off quite decent but as the game progressed you got worse and worse. This sort of strategy may well beat Moderate AI but against the higher difficulty AI and Online players it is not likely to withstand. All I can do is suggest you follow some of the points I have put up and read the various techniques in the Strategy Central part of the forums.

~I use my logic, guidance from Strat Central, personal gameplay and various other means to review Rec. Games - I don't think my own way is the right way so its best to check with guides etc aswell to back up my points.
