The French & Circle War-2

Author File Description
johnboyz Sick and tired of the cold winter nights in Quebec and the more than limited growing season for grapes and very few escargot, the French have decided that they wish to move to the south. Unfortunately, you and your British colonies are already there and have no intentions of moving.

Unknown to most historians, who still believe that it was the Native tribes that allied with the French in their efforts; it was those masters of death and destruction, The Circle and their Boneguards (perhaps, disguised as Natives) who aidied them in their quest. It has been rumoured that the French had promised The Circle either a map to the Fountain of Youth or specific directions to Disney World for their loyal patronage. Whatever the incentive, they were there to aide and abet the French in their dastardly efforts.

You control a VERY large number of British regulars and mercenaries and have been charged with the task of returning the French to the land of quiche and souffles and to break The Circle as well.

A trade route runs through the middle and there are six neutral native tribes willing to take sides of whoever is there with the money and a trading post.

Sometimes, the French and The Circle will attack and sometimes they don't (please send a note of thanks to ES for their incredible AI). I have done everything of know how to do in order to get them to attack en masse but again, sometimes they do and sometimes they do in trickles, a little bit at a time.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are looking for cinematics with which to entertain yourself, I suggest you go to your local theatre. Campaigns have cinematics (like the fine Roanoke Campaign available for download)... I haven't seen that many commercial products (e.g. AOE & AOM) with cinematics outside of their campaign menus. ALSO, if you are looking for an in-depth and detailed story with plot after sub-plot, may I, respectfully, suggest Charles Dickens. Thank you.

I hope that you enjoy yourself!!!

Without Hammond_QC's keen eyesight, it would not have... Thanks Hammond!

Playability: 3
When the French & Circle attacked, I was caught by surprise and lost most of my men and artillery and had to start over again. I fared much better when they didn't and the attack was up to me.

Balance: 4
Looked like it was almost man for man with a little extra to the computer. not as easy as it originally looked and took me a little over 90 minutes to finish everyone off.

Creativity: 4
Don't know which was more creative, the map design itself or the 'trash talking' going on between 'players'

Map Design: 4
Looked almost like a depiction of your concept of the comparison of good and evil with the 'bad guys' living in a dried up area and the 'good guys' in lush green. A nice mix of scenery and landscapes without getting too carried away.

Story/Instructions: 3
I go up to a three here only because it cracked me up to have these people chating and talking trash to each other.

Additional Comments:
I realize that you can't do much about the AI andit's a shame. The AI seems to be the 'Achilles heel' to most of these PC games.
Nice fun!

Hated to go 3, but the auto spawning dudes really got on my nerves. They were there each time, so I assumed it was the map, not me. I finally fenced the point in.

Balance: 4
A good long fight! Took me a long time to clear those guys, and that made it fun!
Creativity: 5
Definitely not stale thought, had me laughing while I was angry and losing a regiment.
Map Design: 4
A little stale on the east vs west sort of split, but the way the AI played it made it work out well.

Story/Instructions: 5
Your posting was great. I'm going to be the rogue and give the five because I feel like you explained the story well. You did leave out the instructions on where to install the files, but the scoring guide doesn't specifically talk about this.

Additional Comments:
Thanks for making this map. Not the map of the century, but certainly light-hearted and entertaining from the beginning. Things worked. If only the auto-spawn guys would have spawned in a few other places... But, I got my can kicked a bit anyway! :)

Was very playable long battle no lagging.

Balance: 3
well it could have had a larger ocean area for fishing and getting around.
Creativity: 4
For the concept the battle was well worth the minor downfall of a totally ground area scene.
Map Design: 2
Again could have had more water why place a pond and allow larger boating but not small fishing boat?
Story/Instructions: 4
Nothing missing there.
All together even though I prefer alot of water it was a huge battle once I seen the too areas the enemy was popping out of the ground it was all over. Think you did very good for a ground battle game. Was well worth the time to play it 4 sure.
AN_Nuisance Playability: 4
Very playable map...the spawning troops were easy to contain though by building walls around the spawn area and lining up some cannon towers.

Balance: 4
LOTS of troops on both sides...the Indians put it a lil out of balance though...the explorer on the enemy side maybe should've taken some Indian posts and trade route as well.

Creativity: 5
Very Creative

Map Design: 4
Decent eye candy and the ability to find the back door attack to the first base was nice...better to flank then frontal attack... ;)

Story/Instructions: 4
Goofy story but hey who am I to stand in judgement...there was a story and the instructions were clear...

Additional Comments:
Besides the spawning the enemy never attacked...but overall very fun to play!
