So I finally got a rec up against something other than Dutch and Portugeuse and on something other than Great Plains, but somehow I failed this game miserably. When you see my micro, try not to cry.
I hit Fortress later than I should have, where I work towards Industrial after suffering a few Cossack raids. I raid myself, killing villagers often, but fail to put any visible dent in their numbers. Eventually, I find a dock and start to siege it, only to find that my opponent has been doing some sort of ridiculous quadruple-dock boom. Which also explained why he was cutting so much wood.
By the end of the game, his resources were so far beyond mine that I had no hope of catching up. I pushed forward earlier than usual due to his higher score, but managed to do some damage. In my second wave, I finished what I started and pushed towards his TC, where I ended the game with a combined force of 48 Jans and 4 Bombards.
But seriously, that game made my normally poor micro turn terrible. This rec could have been my first one showing how to beat a Russian with a semi-FI, but instead, I won simply by outproducing. His boat boom worked moderately well, but, as you can see from his ending resources (200 food, 8700 gold), he gathered the wrong resources and allowed me to outmass him.
