Age Sanctuary Fan Patch maps

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: TAD
The Age Sanctuary Fan Patch was to include updates on some of the original ES maps, but due to the manner that ES used to protect the maps from edited cheat versions, we have not yet gotten these to work in the multiplayer game without ‘out of sync’ problems. I am making these available for download – they work fine as Custom Maps. We have hope to resolve this roadblock and add these maps plus more map updates, and also new maps to the next patch version.

These Fan Patch maps were to replace 5 of the previous maps made by ES with updated versions. Two of these maps, Ozarks and California, were well known for 'mapscrews' especially in 1v1 maps and are merely rebalanced with respect to resource placement. The mines and hunts are changed to place more evenly for all players.

The Hispaniola map was changed in 5 ways. First, the central cliff was reduced in size. Second, there is no longer any possibility of a native village appearing in the area next to the deepest indent of the bay. These changes were done to improve gameplay, and to reduce congestion and eliminate pathfinding issues. Fishing was altered just slightly – there is overall a few more fish and they are spaced a little better. The nugget or treasure placement was also improved and made more fair. Lastly, the mine and hunting resources were rebalanced on this map also.

The Andes map was changed to remove the central river altogether. There generally appears a slightly clearer area at the center line of the map where it is easier to forward build. Also, the resources were rebalanced to give fairer gameplay on this map as well. Player positions and the trade route position were adjusted slightly so that in multiple player games the end players were not as close to the trade route in the ‘angled’ version of the trade route.

The Pampas map was completely redone - the old map just had too many problems. The new map retains its rectangular shape, and features a river running along either the left or right side of the map, not between the players. The trade route can vary, either running across the center line of the map or running along the opposite border from the river. The natives are placed in relation to the river and trade route, and now can randomly include 2 out of these three types - Mapuche, Inca or Tupi. As with the rest of these new maps, resource balance and improved gameplay is a key feature.

To use these maps, place all of the files in the folder: My Documents\My Games\AOE3\RM3. The maps, each named with a ‘New’ in front of the original title, are then available in the Custom Map selection window.

Yosepi Have not as of yet finished the full array of maps presented in this package, So am not able at this time to offer a review and would not wish to currently. Although 'Andes' was very applaudable and played quite smoothly in all testing. I have come accross some issues in the California map thus far. One in which the water spawn flag was precariously close to a certian cliff face and although in that game did not experience a problem, it was seen that it may in a future gameplay setting. That was in a 3 on 3. And upon another excursion on that map construct, in different curcumstances, the spawn flag was again fairly close to the shore, in that it bobbed through the middle of the dock that was built on the beach. Another but only minor may or may not be. In that if your intension was to at times not have whales on the map on various occasions that was accomplished once. The biggest though was that a certain native trade socket in a 1 on 1 game had a portion of its 'business end' on a cliff face and hence was unusable. Even after ousting any and all town centers. I did get a screen shot of that occurence if you wish to see it. All of your maps thus far have been immpeccable and of a very good quality. Just simply wished to pass on some of what testing has turned up thus far. Thank you for your intensive works on these map scripts. They have made this game all the more enjoyable.

P.S. I did write a review for your 'Long River' and may for more as I get the time to experience them. I wish you well in all your future endeavors. Shalom.
