In this Scenario you have to use your covered wagon to set up a base and enter and destroy the city, There are Great Bombards that you can use and the fixed guns make for an interesting way to destroy the city.
Let me make it known that the only way to actually play is to play on Moderate or Hard Difficulty. if you try any other you will see why.
This is my first Scenario and feedback will be appreciated
Also please report any bugs you might find |

Adamkinnell,
Let me add a little to Darthcast's comment. Go to either "Welcome" at the left on of this page and click on forums or main site (for AOE Heaven home page).
If you go to the main site look in right hand column under Forums for Scenario Design. Click on it and "Custom Scenarios Design Competition with Prizes (Summer 2009)" should be second listing on page. Also there is an article on the home page regarding contest with a link to the contest...Good luck[Edited on 07/20/09 @ 01:45 PM]

Playability: 3
As you are attacking the enemy, sometimes enemy units would spawn out of nowhere sometimes even in the middle of the fighting or even worse behind my cannons. The enemy ai was also about 50% of the time would just walk past my men or just stop fighting and head somewhere else, noted that the ai is very stupid, but i think the ai could have done better. Or perhaps, when spawning units and telling them to go somewhere, use another player for that, p3, and dont give them an ai and use effect: units in area move, and activate the attack, that way they will attack and not go past them.
Balance: 4
The game was not too challenging or too easy, hoever two reasons why i have a 4 instead of a 5 were the units spawning sometimes behind your cannons, or inside your army, etc. The other reason was that you should add a deck for the players by making a .xml document.
Creativity: 3
The map was bassicaly a build and destroy map with several tiny objectives to make your life easier in the game.
Map Design: 4
The map looked nice, better than average, but it could use more props, buildings, etc. The map looked plain at times.
Story/Instructions: 3
There was no story of why the Russians were attacking Istanbul, no opening cinematic, etc. The objectives were also sometimes jumbled up, at least me it was. After i completed an objective (i didn't know it was an objective) The objective would all of a sudden say it was completed, perhaps as you are entering the city the objectives show up would have been better.
Additional Comments:
An average map, but since this was your first, it is pretty good, keep it up :) Add some more features and complications.[Edited on 07/26/09 @ 01:18 PM]

Thank you for your review KevTheGreat, I would have put in a cutscene but for some reason when you use cinematic mode it disables chat, if you know how to fix that could you please tell me. |

you dont need to use cinematic mode for a cutscene, just the the cinematic editor, and some overlay text, music, and maybe a cool battle for it. That is what most people do for the opening intro |

KevTheGreat,
I just have to make a comment on your review...
Playability: 3
You said "sometimes enemy units would spawn out of nowhere"... they were spawning out of the buildings...the instructions say "destroy the buildings". If you could beat the scenario by side-stepping the stated objections said so, don't knock the AI, score accordingly.

some units were not spawned next to a bulding, such as the beginning when you destroy the gate, i went in and next to where the gate was spawned troops, my troops were directly over that position, afer they died, more spawned over. Another place was also after i took the the fixed guns, the jans spawned on the bottom of the hill, i had cannons their defending agaisnt the other troops, needless to say they were quickly wiped out. As for the ai when i said the ai could have done better, i meant the maker could ahve made the ai do better, i recommend using another player (p3) for the spawning units, because the ai for player 2 can overide the commands given to the spawned units, which happened on some occasions[Edited on 07/22/09 @ 01:22 AM]

*Spoilers*
most units don't respawn, the troops at the outpost respawn until you build a base and army, the troops at the base enterance respawn until you make a bigger army, troops spawn between the military buildings until you have destroyed all of one type, (eg: All stables) and the army in the main base respawns so you don't go in the main way and skip part of the scenario (using the fixed guns to destroy the town). |

At the gate spawn point, how big of any army did you need for them to spawn? Maybe i had too small of an army and infiltrated the gates(all this while i was training men at my base) Then my pop grew, perhaps this caused the units to spawn? As for the other spawn, i wasn't talking about the ones coming out of the left part of city, i was talking about the jans on the right part of the city, at the base of the hill leading up to the fixed guns, as soon as i captured them, the jans spawned, on top of my bombard cannon and some muskets defending agaisnt the enemy. |

KevTheGreat,
This is what makes this scenario interesting... sorry for the spoilers AdamKinnell, if you wish me to edit/remove I will, just say so
Kev, you got skunked by a first timer...
You said "At the gate spawn point, how big of any army did you need for them to spawn?"
Gee, one guy, and it begins...
"Then my pop grew, perhaps this caused the units to spawn?" Nope...you attacked...
For clarification...
1)troops are being spawn from the barracks, stables and armories, destroy them all, they stop...instructions pretty much implied that.
2)troops were coming at you from the city gates (Northwest/your left).
3) bombards...you got to figure out where they were coming from...
4) once you attacked fixed guns a whole new group of jans would attack from the bottom of the hill.
As I said "you think it's a cake walk? This is one hell of a scenario for a first timer.
