The Charge of the Light Brigade!

EmperorRicky This is my first scenerio....please rate it!

Good Luck...there are a lot of Russians....

Note- There is not a lot of eyecandy on this map. This is truthful to history as there was not a lot of things other then grass, men, horses, and cannon in "The Valley of Death".

Also Note- Your computer might have problems running this scenerio. I have gotten rid of all the triggers to eleminate some of the problem it used to have.

The Charge of the Light Brigade

1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death

"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them

When can their glory fade?

Bad lag. Very bad lag running a fairly high end system. Not really a fun fight, there were just too many units in a confined space.

Balance: 2
While I gained alot of ground, the "slow knife fight" aspect and lag just finally made me quit. Yes there was a large difference in forces during this battle of the Crimean War, but it's too unbalanced for play. Could be scaled back, while still preserving the challenge of being outnumbered.

Creativity: 3
Good thinking of this lost piece of history.

Map Design: 2
Description was right, the battlefield was/is very open and bland but there is more to the terrain than a single channel.

Story/Instructions: 4
The history is there, so there's plenty of info on the story.

Additional Comments:
Thanks for making the map. It's a really good idea that just needs some polishing. I'm thinking right off, if your troop numbers are based an actual historical record, try scaling it back to a 1:10 ratio or something more managable. There's really just too many units on screen to work with in the space allowed.

One other note that I thought was funny. One unit I highlighted said "Si" (spanish) I've seen this in other maps I've played. Just thought it was funny since the battle was fought by Russians, Ottoman Turks, Brits and Austrailians. :)

this can be developed more to make it more enjoyable

its hard to make this type of scenario because of the reality of the situation, there was no real balance in the battle nor should their be in the game.

Creativity: 3
good idea that just needs a little more work, keep at it and try different things to liven up the game play without causing lag

nice job, middle of the road

ok, but the lag issue makes it hard to follow everything

(it was too laggy to play, probbably because of large numbers)

(its not balanced as expected, it makes the scenario considered as a cinematic)

(idea is realy good, one of the most heroic wars ever happened)

(it seemed to be a scene rather than a story and i dont know if there is any instructions cause i couldnt play it because of lag)

600 were ottoman:
there is one big mistake about this scenerio: the supposed light brigade is english. ottoman empire was allied with english in the crimean war and recent studies shows that the charge of the light brigade was ottoman and the english governement just made some arrangements and changed the reality to create a public opinion promiting the war towards russian.

actually only 120 english soldier were dead. pity for the poem its an orphan now.

Well obviously it's not balanced, but historically speaking it's pretty good. Although is it actually possible to defeat the Russians?

Additional Comments: This is a good job, you just need to scale down the number of units to decrease the insane amount of lag.
