AoE3 Hybrid Shader Studio Ver 1.0

Author File Description

File Details
Game Version: AoE3+TWC+TAD

The combination of the ENB Series Mod 0.076e and FXAA PPi 2.0

overcomes almost all of the glitches and shortcomings of each within the

AoE3 environment to easily allow you to beautify the game to your

hearts content. By first loading the ENB we can effectively enable in

game MSAA and allow it to combine with the FXAA, something FXAA

doesn't allow on its own. The combination also drastically improves

performance within the game, leaving glitches and tearing massively

reduced. Conversley FXAA PPi 2.0 brings the ability to add custom

shaders, something not available within ENB until later. It also

introduces the FXAA_Tool which allows custom tweaking of all available

shaders in a graphical environment (sliders), goodbye to bashing out

ENB settings for hours.

The Shaders come with a hand tuned config within ENB, this is a mild

departure from vanilla and should suit a lot of people as is. This config

was created with application control set in the Nvidia Colour Settings,

please remember this if the game looks bad after installation, perhaps

your settings may need adjusting, although FXAA_Tool is the real

answer in this case.

Copy all files and folders into the games main folder, this is usually:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires 3\

Ready to go on installation. Advisable to make a shortcut to FXAA_Tool.

To remove, delete all files and the folder injFX_Shaders

Ingame Keys:

Shift + F12 Enable/Disable ENB
Shift + Pause Enable/Disable FXAA PPi

Please comment , I look forward to trying some of your configs.

Ideas for 1.5 - 2.0:

1.5: Incorporate additional shaders
1.5: Tweak hard config in response to user feedback
1.5: Update components

2.0: Move to SMAA Injector

mandosrex well not bad, but overall the game simply doesn't need it... this or any other 'graphics' mod...

for me the game looks completely awesome with amazing graphics. i always wondered if there was anyone back in 2004 who could actually play the game maxed out...
it still has visuals for 2011, 2012, 2013 and so on. it's simply beautiful.

now, regarding a request, a little more bloom wouldn't hurt. not too much, just a little.
i mean now, it's just a very powerful contrast with a different light level. that's all.

Thanks for commenting.

I agree that the graphics are good too, but isn't it great to have an option to tweak them to your own liking?

If you want more bloom, add it yourself with FXAA_Tool. I didn't overblow it on purpose so that people could do it themselves.

I will bear it in mind for 1.5 though, cheers.

rpsgc Hi,

Are you still working on this? Or have you abandoned it?
onceagain I'm guessing this is just for the expansions? It wouldn't work on my original.
Unfortunate, because I hate the tearing when playing this game. Supposing the graphics performance could be improved purely from software modification gets my interest. If this ends up becoming available for the vanilla version I'll have to check it out.
