This file removes the hardcoded population limit imposed by AOE3. It is a simple byte patch, and does a slight modification to your exe.
Multiplayer on LAN or Direct Connect works, but only if both people have the patch. If you are having residual OOS problems 10-120 seconds after a new game, check out this file:
Patch(.DIF), Source, JAR, and an EXE are included in the zip file.
Instructions for EXE:
Run it as administrator, you will receive no notification if it worked or not. Feel free to check ingame. NOTE* This does not modify the max pop, only the hardcoded max pop limit.
Instructions for JAR:
Open CMD as administrator, and CD to the directory that the JAR file is inside.
Run the command w/ quotes: javaw -jar "<jar-name, ex. poppatch.jar> <optional filename for executable>"
I highly recommend the EXE, as it is much simpler to use, although you cannot specify the filename via the EXE.
If you do not wish to use the premade files, you may apply the patch yourself:
Open up HxD or other competent Hex Editor.
For each line in the .DIF file, it has an address, 8 characters long, with a colon then 2 2-digit letter/number combinations.
Go to each 8-digit address via Ctrl+G in HxD or goto in another hex editor. Modify each 2-digit value to the second 2-digit combo.
There are also automated patch appliers, although I have found none to work on windows.
