You will play in the game a soldier called Richard Sharpe. At the start he is a non-commissioned officer (sergeant) in service at the life company of general-major Ross. Sharpe served his entire career in India where he was flogged by his sergeant at the time, Obadiah Hakeswill, a villain and traitorous individual, for something he did not do.
After his time in India, Sharpe got stationed in Portugal in the army of general Arthur Wellesley. After proven himself in battle Sharpe got promoted to sergeant in the staff company of Ross, Wellesley left hand.
Sharpe is a very ambition man, who is determined to become an officer. His archenemies are the French, especially Ducot and his former sergeant, Obediah Hakeswill, who is by coincidence stationed in the 1st battalion of the South Essex, but deserted just before Sharpe could take his revenge.
Furthermore Sharpe is fond of ladies, especially for ladies who are as “brave” as he is. With his shotgun he is as sharp(e) as his name is telling us...
Storyline
The story begins where the life company of Ross (including you as Sharpe) is camping for the night on its way to the city of Badajoz. The city acts as the HQ of the regiment. Once in the city Ross is trying to get all the troops (1st, 2nd , 95th cie and the allies) into the city to build up his defenses and to get his army in such a strength that he can take the challenge to cross the border with France, to defeat Calvet and take the city of Toulouse.
The final goal is to seize Napoleons treasure. The treasure is vital for the emperor to strengthen his army after being defeated in Leipzig.
But before this Sharpe get several assignments to help securing the area and supporting Ross its goals. (I will not mention the assignments here, since you have to experience it yourself)
End of the game
Surely the game will end if you have met the objective: Napoleons treasure. But the game will also end if you or general major Ross are killed.
