Install: In you game dir\data folder; copy and paste both proto.xml and techtree.xml then
delete. Extract both proto.xml and techtree.xml files to game dir\data folder.
Uninstall: Delete both proto.xml and techtree.xml files in game dir\data folder. Rename your copies.
Mercenaries available to each Civs thru HC shipments can now be trained at Barracks,
Blockhouses, Stables, Docks, and Forts*. The cost is only gold, but is a bit high! It's the
original stats. I dindn't want to make any changes to the cost for now. I may make some
changes to the cost in future update.
*For many Civs the Forts' Tech Upgrades are at the Arsenal!
I enjoyed this Mod. It works when installed correctly. I initially assumed that the AI would not be able to use the mod. I was wrong.
Most civilizations are easier to defeat with the mod, a fault of the AI not the mod. The AI spends precious resources for mercs which tend to be harder to kill, but are ultimately a disadvantage because units are smaller and easy to contain.
However, the Ottomans are harder to defeat with the mod. I tend to avoid rushing when playing against the AI. I like a good long game with loads of battles. An Imperial age Ottoman empire will attack with Mamelukes, hard to kill.
Additional Comments: I wonder if an AI mod in conjunction with the Merc mod could be created which would balance the amount of resources the AI uses on mercs. It might offer some interesting results?
