Based on an analysis about infantry and artilleries, I tried with the British. Muskets are more powerful than expected. Spreading them out and using bayonets overcome many problems.
Muskets/ falconets combo is more all ground and can siege early, making game pace a bit faster. Game ends mainly before 27:00 for a 2v2 game.
Interesting for me to watch, being a firm believer in Muskets, Bayonets and Field guns.
The speed with which you got them mobilized to good-effect here is impressive in-itself (IMO) – and that you neutralized the momentum of the French Offensive in pretty short order (although I didn’t really see whether they were simultaneously dividing their force to also offer some help to their ally, hard-pressed by yours).
Either way, the concert of efforts broke their offensive – without your use of horse, which as you note in your description here, does underscore that this is a good one to watch to see the efficacy of musket & bayonet –vs- infantry, horse (Hussars) and falconets/field guns.
Had the French produced twice as many field guns as they did, it would likely have been a lot more costly for you in loss of infantry – but, they put their resources elsewhere, like on the lake in Caravels, etc…
An enjoyable one to watch all-in-all.
Your ally (Portuguese) really ‘won the war’ on the eastern front it seems to me – but did so much more quickly with your having overrun the western front nearly-simultaneously.
