BIG Map Pack

Author File Description
Kyle Leach If you are like me, you like having some room to roam around on the map. This map pack provides all of the standard maps, but increases the size x 10. I have also increased the size of elements like forests and cliffs, so that they take up the same amount of space in proportion to the larger map size.

Please note that these maps are LARGE - 100,000 tiles to be exact. You may experience some lag if you are playing these maps online, with lots of players, or with a computer that lacks adequate gaming hardware. So try them out before starting a game with another human player. However, once you have determined that a map will run fine for your gaming situation, you can enjoy the larger map size and discover some of the new challenges that come with having more space.

Kyle,

You Are The Man!
Yes indeed, like you I really want the Huge Map / field area… The bigger the better & there can’t be any ‘too-big.’

I’m actually quite excited to even See all of these, but what I’ve seen thus far is absolutely Excellent!
In fact, I just finished a ‘New England’ war on one of these – and it was Fantastic!
A Completely different experience than is at-all, in Any-way possible on those tiny default ‘back-yard’ fields…

With the Larger area, it really does at-last become a matter of RTS – Real Time Strategy – and not merely RTS – Really Truly Silly.

Your proportional ‘expansion’ of area and content is Superb from all I’ve seen thus far. It works exactly as one could best hope and they are as beautiful as they are fun and challenging.

For all of us who do much like and appreciate the beautiful, well-balanced default maps in all but their ridiculously small size – this D/L is a MUST Have.

No pause here in giving your wonderful contribution its entitled five stars… Which I do with Many thanks!

Best regards,
~ Lionness

Very nicely done!!
True to the original yet as large as it should have been from the beginning. Makes for far better gameplay!

I've played both Carolina and Great Plains and they were excellent!

There was no difficulty with lag whatsover.

Additional Comments:Thank you very much!

HOSH I have been playing them with our group and I say that they are big is an understatement.

It gives us plonty of room to run around the map espicially if you have a mod on the game for more units and diffrent hip points. But with just the maps there are no lag, just sometimes a missspon.

We are waiting for kyle to release his mod for the game that makes some interesting changes. I hope to see it released in the near future, It throughs out the book for most of it, but is more realistic.

Size to move some troops without bumping into your enemy outside your town or running into a neibor.

Amazing.... i liked in AoM How you could choose the 'normal' or 'large' map size, but even that didnt do much.. big maps = good game

Right on. It makes games a whole lot more interesting. A little hard to get used to (at least in the mini-map), but thats to be expected. Good work!

mbobmean So want this loaded but could not pull them up. Placed them (all files) in my RM folder, what did I do wrong?

Mean Bob Mean,

Since I do not have my gaming computer handy, I will refer you to these great installation instructions provided by Veteran map maker, RFGandalf:

To play these maps, the files must be placed in the folder: My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM2. Please do not place them in the game's install folder - that will not work. When you start up a skirmish game in Single-player or Multiplayer, use the small blue 'Custom Map' button, which allows you to then select one of the random maps in that My Games folder from the drop-down window. The files will transfer in Multiplayer if your allies or opponents have not downloaded the files. Please do not edit the files or you will have compatability problems in Multiplayer. Please do not place these in the usual folder for the original AOE3(or vanilla AOE3) custom random maps, as the addition of the new natives and new War Chiefs terrains will cause the map to not work properly. Note there is a separate version for the original AOE3.

Hope this answers your question.
thefreak 123 can you give me a copy of this with just tupi, huron, and cree villiges on all maps?
this is a great map set and give just enough room to maneuver.

My favourite mod, I love having my favorite maps up sized (carribean, new england etc) that weren't up sized with War chiefs!

Awesome Work! 10/10!
