This is a game between me (xander_fred-green) and TheGrovyGuy (light blue). Its a very long game (compared to what i'm used to) where both players have their up's and down's. There are also some techniques that we use that I dont see many players even attempt to do. They have bailed me out of several extremely tight sitituations (example; this game).
Wow that’s one long game. Back and forth all over the map, fun to watch. Even break out the monitors late game to resolve the stalemate.
Fred
Early on you let your tc go idle for a while. It didn’t seem to help your colonial time a lot however. I’d probably just go ahead and make another vill. Excellent job raiding and controlling the area just out of his TC range. Even got the fortress age wagon wtg!
Groovy
Very good job getting the 2nd tc up by your hunters in preparation for the coming uhlans. It went up just in time. You then proceed to herd the buffalo away from the tc :o You also lost a few too many vills to raids that could have been garrisoned sooner or been in safer places. 3rd eye on the mini map almost the entire game ;) But it looks like you went a little too heavy on the gold and wound up really slowing down your fortress age time. Getting those mames out is great, but not having you’re 3rd tc already placed and the age up cass made for some problems. When you do run out of hunting keep in mind that the Lakota have a buffalo shipment.
Mid Fort
Both of you were queuing 4-5 setters in the TCs and stockpiling larger amounts of resources. 3k food for Groovy :o But neither had a very substantial army. Still the action keeps up. A little more micro could certainly help on both sides (more Groovy’s). Don’t let doppels touch anything! I’m a little uncertain as to way fred went with the Comanche ranged cav. They’re not bad units, but Groovy wasn’t making any cav, mostly muskets :s It was a bit frustrating watching hundreds of resources in stockpiles when they could have been making a turning point in the game. If you need more production buildings then make them.
Late Game
Groovy switches to mostly muskets and fred goes through a variety of combos. Both sides just keep spamming units with no clear winner. I do have to wonder why fred kept making cav archers and Groovy didn’t throw in some cass once the skirms showed up. Groovy, if you’re going to go to imperial the capitol techs are very good.
Things were still really close with Groovy slowly losing ground and then… 22 Lakota Dog Soldiers OMFG!!! VGG

lol the camanche require no population and are good vs goons, especailly when my opponet must use population for his units that are MORE expensive than mine :)
