CINEMATIC --The Trail of Tears: East Not West

Author File Description
CaveTown
File Details
Game Version: TWC
The Trail of Tears: East Not West Part 1. This is part one in a trilogy of cinematics I have planned. In the time of The Trail of Tears many Natives were forced away to the West like they were nothing.. But these natives went East away from the United States... They went to a great island..

The island in the cinematic's name is "Island of Shadows". It's not told in the cinematic so now you know it though. Here's my descrition of the cinematic in my announcement page of the forums..

"The Story is during the trail of tears. It's a fictional story. The Natives are starting to be forced to go West. Although a group of seven natives decided to go East instead. They went to an island East of New England. That's where the story begins.."

Here's a map of the island:

It's not that recent, but it's good enough.

The cinematic was very fun to watch. It did have a couple minor bugs (people not moving with the rest, lighting changing befor fading out) but nothing that made much of an effect on the quality of the cinematic. The only other thing that took a little away from how fun it was to watch was that not much unexpected happened, but other than that it was really good.

Balance: 4
The cinematic had lots of camera tracks which all ran fine. Some of them, such as at the begining and some in the cave, had really nice camera angles. Alot of them, however, were from above looking down on the units, which is not as interesting as more close up and varying angles. Real movies are never shot 75% of the time above the actors heads.

Creativity: 5
The cinematic was really creative, in pretty much all aspects of it. It had a creative story and creative map design (especially the cave).

Map Design: 4
The map was really nice, there were quite a few areas with lots of embellishment and realistic looking terrain. The cave was especially nice. However a few areas seemed pretty flat, without even the slightest variation in elevation. I can't wait to see it with awesome graphics once I get my new video card.

Story/Instructions: 4
The story was really good, but as I already mentioned lacked any big twists. The main problem with it was the lack of animations (Talk2Sec is great) or portraits showing who is talking, either of those (or even better both) would have made it easier to understand who everyone was.

Additional Comments:
Somehow I think I've seen that introduction somewhere before. Many times. I wonder where :p
Anyways great cinematic overall, just because it's a cinematic and you don't get to play doesn't mean it's not worth downloading. Also sorry if my comments seem to emphasize the bad stuff a bit to much, I guess I just notice some things like that because I've made a cinematic before. Also you should add a readme, some people don't know where to put stuff and you have more then just a scenario file. Also you have 2 of both scenario files for some reason, which makes it kind of confusing (maybe you should fix that and re-upload it).
