tbarak This modification builds upon the prior release, however, it is intended to replace the prior proto.xml with a new one, so please un-install the prior version before placing this one on your computer.

Torchy, painter, hunchback, juggler, drunk, Jack the Ripper, beefeater, butcher, musician, middle class female, middle class male, policeman, preacher, royal stage coach, hooker, nobleman, noblewoman, peasant class boy, peasant class girl, fisherman, street sweeper, vendor, thug, Russian cop 1, Russian cop 2.

Portrait Icons

These were custom made and attached to the characters since the original game does not have portrait icons for them:

Policeman, butcher, m/c male, m/c female, p/c boy, p/c girl.

Props
*****
Some of these can be used anywhere, however, the ones marked with an * are intended to dress the British HC foundation.

Tzar's cannon, infantry statue, equestrian statue, explorer statue, *barrels, *5 versions of street lamps.

Buildings

Notre Dame cathedral - is included since it can be used in combination with the hunchback.

Special

This unit is the British HC. The model includes the street and few buildings. I've included it for experimental purposes and future mod releases will add more British HC buildings so people can completely recreate the British HC in their scenarios.

Notes

Each unit has a number of animations that can be assigned using the "set animation" trigger in the editor and a list of the animations is included in the install notes. Most of the units may be handled in the same way as any other game units using triggers (move, unit create, etc), however, since they were designed as "dressing", and lack death and attack animations, their use likely best serves as embellishment. Also note the Hunchback requires slightly different handling which is detailed in the help notes.

This is the second version of this mod and as time permits I will add and update it. Please be aware that the mod must be removed and the original proto.xml must be reinstalled before playing AOE3 on-line or before watching replays. Failure to do so will cause errors.

Hope you enjoy adding home city characters to your game and scenarios as now you have quite a few to chose from!

Thanks for the review Kevin.

I've been working a bit each day to update the mod and so far I've added 10 more units, 6 prop units, 4 custom portrait icons since some of the units don't have them, and once "special" which is the British HC base unit. I'll probably unpdate the mod officially in the next few days and continue to do so until all the units are added.

To create a reasonable death "animation" for the HC units if they're to die in a scenario. Add the trigger:

Trigger 1
Condition: Is Dead
Unit: select the HC unit in question
Effect: Change Unit Type
Target Unit: the HC unit in question
Unit: generic corpse

While it's not an animation, it gives a fairly convincing transition from a live unit to a dead one.

Excellent mod. Definately a stepping stone towards getting even more HC units and buildings in the scenario editor. -1 point for causing OSS errors- you need to re-make it so that it doesn't conflict with v1.02 (you could add your knew proto.xmb changes into the new v1.02 proto .xmb)

Your trigger idea wasn't very well, since they migth turn into a women when they aren't, or maybe even a box.
I'll recommend some thing like this:
This is for some man from the mod.
Trigger: Kill Man (active)
conditions: CHOOSE YOU OWN
Effects:
change unit type: the HC unit to Coureor des Bois
Kill: The HC unit

This would give them an dead animation as well as a sound
