Story
-----
This is a free for all skirmish type scenario, where the French have built a mighty Stronghold around a sacred Inca temple.
The British and the Spanish (you the player) both want to conquer the Stronghold in order to capture the Inca temple.
The French of course are not going to give up the control over the temple.
So we have here a classic free for all game with a small twist - you have to capture the Inca temple before the British do.
Gameplay
--------
Conquer the French Stronghold to the south but watch out from the British (from the east) as they may try to take you out before trying to conquer the stronghold.
The French may also conduct raids of their own, so sometimes it may feel like they are both trying to take you out at the same time.
The Stronghold has two large fixed guns.
You can try to take them out first or capture them, and then use them for your advantage.
Your main objective is to capture the Inca temple that is inside the French Stronghold.
Once you capture it, you will start a timer and if you keep the Inca temple under your control for 5 minutes, then you would win the game.
The same rule is true for the British.
You can capture the Inca temple by having at least 3 units next to it where no other enemy units are near.
However, the other players can re-capture it from you if they destroy your units.
Some units such as cavalry and artillery take less population, allowing for big armies (300+ population cap).
The water has a lot of fish and some whale, and the human player (you) gets a free fishing boat with every shipment (medium and easy levels only).
You get free Black riders (reinforcements) on regular base (the number of units depends on the difficulty level).
You get a large deck with 30 cards, including the Schooner card and hot air balloon.
You may get an extra explorer or two during the game.
The two AI opponents get initial advantage which makes their score higher at the beginning of the game.
However, their advantage is mainly with defensive structures, although the British may get some reinforcements at some point.
Note - This is not an historical scenario.
Tips
----
There are a few sheep lying around the map, so try to get them first.
Water boom strategy is essential in this scenario, although it may not be too safe.
Be careful not to destroy the Inca temple, as that will make the Inca people very angry (you are not going to like what happens as a result of that).
Rushing the French stronghold early may not be possible, but you can try that with the British.
Your two opponents may train some war ships so be prepared to fight against their ships.
Difficulty
----------
I have uploaded 3 versions for this map - easy, medium, and hard to accomodate everyone’s skill.
Hard level would even be a challenge for above average players
Installation
-------------
Place the “Conquer Stronghold*.age3scn” and “Conquer Stronghold*.bck” file into 'my documents/my games/age of empires 3/scenario'.
I also created 1 home city for this custom scenario (HomeCity_Seville...) and it should be copied to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\Campaign\Blood Ice Steel
Special thanks to sziggi and pftq for helping me out with the triggers that are needed to capture buildings.
I hope you enjoy this scenario.
If you do, then please show your support by reviewing it.
Thank you.

I fixed a bug where if you captured the west fixed gun and lost control of it, then the french would have 100 units trained.
It supposed to be 10 - 20 units only.

Hi Moshe, well I must say you've demonstated a firm understanding of game elements. Map is nice with a consistant flow from end to end. I'v played the moderate map in the editor, you may want to express the point that the difficultiy is set by the AI in major part, and should be played from the main menu "custom map" option. A good goal might be to plan your next scn. with some cinematics, I consider that three; begining middle and end is the way to go. Very nice work all around and the trigger things you seem to have working fine, going to do some more playing and look in the editor and I'll send some more input. Fun Scenario! |

Playability: 5
I found this scenario very fun to play. I liked the strategical thinking of having a rival team struggling for the same aim as you.
Balance: 5
The balance is in my opinion perfect. It´s not too easy (at least not when playing by the strategy i chose) and not too hard either. The AI of the two computer teams are very good.
Creativity: 4
There´s some details here like the two huge cannons.
Map Design: 3
Good.
Story/Instructions: 3
Instructions are clear.

Ok here we go...A VERY playable map...I played it several times with different difficulty settings.
Balance: 4.5
I almost gave you a 5 here...but It wasn't too hard to eliminate the Britsh so that took them out of the scenario completely...er...um until suddenly a bunch of them appeared again but I was able to take out that force pretty quickly. Having the hot air balloons was cool but I was able to spawn them over the fixed guns and own quite a few buildings and units several times before the balloon crashed.
Creativity: 5
Again very creative I like the fact that two civs are going for the French...but I didn't really notice the Brits going for it...I suppose that's because I was thumping them.
Map Design: 4.5
The design was good...the fixed guns controlled most of the interior waterways and you couldn't build on the two Indian trade posts without getting smacked down by the guns. If there had been a bit of eye candy here I would've given you a 5.
Story/Instructions: 5
As always the story and intructions were great...I applaud you highly on this portion of your maps....always good! ;)
Additional Comments:
Twice I accidentally destroyed the temple to get a crapload of Inca warriors in my face...unfortunately for them there were about 15 imperial field guns and a crapload of mercs there when they appeared so they got mowed down pretty well....an interesting touch though... =)

Thank you AN_Nuisance for reviewing all my scenarios.
Yes, you are right, The British are not that strong.
I was afraid to make them too strong because then there would be two AI’s going against the player at the same time.
That would be very challenging, but I guess on hard level it wouldn’t be so bad.

First download the files and move them to the appropriate directories as specified in the installation section.
After that just go to “Single Player” and select “Custom Scenarios”.
You would then see a list of all the available custom scenarios.
Just select the one you want.
