Campaign Walkthrough: Chinese

  • Chinese Campaign (8 KB)
  • Fourth Mission

In this mission, you'll have to be swift in the beginning. The clock is ticking and the prisioner convoy you're after will move again once the timer runs out. If you do everything without wasting too much time, you shouldn't have too much trouble intercepting that convoy just as it leaves its first resting place.

Right at start, have Huang throw explosives at the trees blocking your way to blow them up. Go forward, until you see some natives, who you'll have to fight. Use both of your heroes' special attacks to take them out quickly, so that you won't lose much time and your Chu Ko Nu remain unharmed. There's another forest, through which you should go. You'll encounter some friendlies, who will join you. Have the villagers gather berries and build a trading post at the Maya village with Huang. In the meantime, rescue the medicine man. It's best to attack the guardians first with Lao Chen, so that you don't accidentally lose units.

After it's been built, queue as many Maya spearmen as you can and continue forward, through another forest. You'll see some enemies again, which are easily disposed of. Afterwards, move your villagers to hunt the animals, because you'll gather food faster that way. You should still have more than a minute to go, if you haven't wasted time. Continue onwards and you'll see yet another forest, which you can take out. There are some more villagers and units, who will join you. Send 3 of the villagers to gather wood, while having the rest on food.

There isn't much time before the convoy moves, so prepare an ambush at the river crossing. Have most of your units on the south side of the crossing, while having some units wait in the area, where you just found more units. The coming battle isn't very hard, but it's still possible to lose. When the enemy closes in, have both of your armies attack them. Use both of your special attacks early - with a well-placed grenade, Huang can take out 5 eagle warriors. During the fight, make sure your Chu Ko Nu are all firing and you don't have any units being idle. You can queue more Maya warriors, too.

After the fight, you get your villagers and there's no more time limit in the scenario. Take a deep breath and start building an economy. Build a market, get woodcutting upgrades and gather wood for a town center. Start creating villagers and build two farms, when you have the wood. Once you have the economy rolling, max out your native warriors so that you have 15 Maya spearmen, and have your army take out the gate to the east. There will be some enemies, but you'll simply have too many units. The warhuts will go down just as easily, since Maya spearmen have an excellent siege attack.

You can continue on through the gate, since you can replace any losses you take. Go to 3rd age, upgrade your units and prepare to steamroll through the rest of the scenario. Build a war academy and with the aid of territorial armies, waltz through their defenses. Rescue your friends from the stockades and continue till the very end. There will be a lot of buildings which spawn units, so take them out. Your Maya spearmen will make short work of them.

With every stockade you destroy, more natives will spawn. You don't necessarily have to eliminate them, since you will win the scenario when the last stockade falls.
