Campaign Walkthrough: Indian

  • Indian Campaign (8 KB)
  • Fourth Mission

This is a mission in which you can't build any extra troops, you'll have to do with whatever you have and the units you find later on.

At first, move around the area counter-clockwise, avoiding the British patrol. When you reach the weapon cache, two sepoy will join you in destroying it to spook the elephants. They will trample the enemy units you'll gain access to the second area - go there.

Go first to east, going counter-clockwise again. The dragoon patrol will head north and the infantry patrol to west, leaving the middle alley free for you. There's a stockade with sepoys in it, but don't take it yet. Destroy the second weapon cache, which again startles the elephants, kills the dragoon patrol and gives you an entrance to the third area. If the musketeers patrol isn't too close already, you should have time to destroy the stockade with the aid of your two new friends. After you've freed them, move to the third area through the northernmost alley.

This area is slightly harder. Move to the upper alley and start sieging the stockades. Once it is down, move back for a bit and wait until the enemy starts moving, leaving you free to go take out the third weapon cache. Once it's destroyed, wait a bit for the enemy to move again, so you can go back to the upper area. Further south, you've gained access to two siege elephants and a couple of sepoys - move them out of the reach of the Agra Fort for now and start sieging the two stockades in both areas to gain more units. After that, destroy the gate and unite your forces.

Keep your units out of reach of the Agra Fort and have your siege elephants fire at it instead. When the fort is down, immediately move your units along with the Shah out of the area, since a group of enemies break through the walls in the south. Go fire at the group with one siege elephant to get them following you and pull back to your main army. Make sure not to get your siege elephants killed, though. The enemies, following your elephant blindly will fall easily to your superior group - if you're low on units and the enemy starts firing on your army, use the heroes' special abilities for more firepower. After they're down, go destroy the British rocket with the siege elephants - it'll require two shots from both of your siege elephants. If you want to avoid damage, pull back after you've fired the first volley and come back to fire the second one after you've reloaded.

Move your whole army across the river - some units will join you again. Keep moving south until you reach a fork in the road and turn right to the flagged area. Move the shah inside it to gain yet more units. Some British troops will come there, but your army should now be so large you'll be able to deal with them easily. Use the fire command ability to reduce casualties, though.

Go again to south for more units and to avoid the enemy (for now). To the west from the flagged area, there are gunpowder stores which you can blow up. Go through the whole - there'll be some enemy musketeers for you to deal with. Blow up the weapon cache behind them to spook some more elephants, killing enemy soldiers and destroying the towers nearby. Before going to the flagged area behind the weapon cache you destroyed, go fetch some more soldiers from the west with the Shah.

After getting the batch of units from the flagged area, move further north to the area which the elephants demolished. A fight will be unavoidable, but you have a lot of units. Keep the Shah out of combat, just in case. There are some flagged areas, from which you can still get more reinforcements. One of those is behind the gunpowder stores, so blow them up as well. Look out, for there are some enemy units nearby, too. Near the units, there is a weapon cache, but taking that out doesn't give you any big advantage. Take out the enemy tower with your siege elephants.

From now on, the scenario is rather straightforward - you'll have to fight through the enemy. This shouldn't be too difficult, even though you're facing powerful opponents, since you have a sizeable mass of units already. Remember to use the fire command when going gets rough. Lure enemies to your army to avoid fighting large groups at the same time. Get the last reinforcements from the flagged areas with the Shah.

If you are REALLY low on units, you can use the area uncovered by destroying the most recent weapon cache to slowly bombard the enemy units moving about. They won't come to chase you. The siege elephants' attack against infantry is so low, that unless you have lost a lot of units, you can finish the scenario faster by direct combat. Also, you can observe the enemies' patrol routes and go get more units from the flagged areas with the Shah, before initiating combat.

The only noteworthy things in the end are that you should try to take out the enemy towers and rockets without direct combat. Other than that, you can pretty much steamroll your way through to the end. Once the Shah reaches the flagged area, you've won.
