Chinese Units

The following units are available to the Chinese civilization, either in one or more buildings or through unique shipments. This list doesn't include mercenaries, outlaws, Consulate units and minor natives even if China has access to them. Soon you will have access to all the new The Asian Dynasties units and their stats in our Units Database.

  • Arquebusier

  • Arquebusier (3 KB)
  • Infantry, GunpowderTrooper, RangedInfantry
  • The Arquebusier is an archaic gunpowder unit that works like a Skirmisher. It is more expensive than the Chu Ko Nu, but the longer range make this unit more effective at performing certain tasks.
  • Changdao Swordsman

  • Changdao Swordsman (3 KB)
  • Melee Infantry
  • The Changdao Swordsman is a cheap infantry unit that counters cavalry units, but overall is also decent at any melee fighting and sieging. The Changdao is first available at Fortress Age.
  • Chu Ko Nu

  • Chu Ko Nu (3 KB)
  • RangedInfantry, Archer, Infantry
  • Making a return to the Age series after it's previous appearance in Age of Empires II, the Chu Ko Nu is a cheap archer-type unit equipped with a fast-firing crossbow. They are quite fragile units, but easy to mass and excellent at killing enemy heavy infantry units.
  • Disciple

  • Disciple (4 KB)
  • CoyoteMan, HandInfantry, LightInfantry
  • The Disciple is a cheap yet effective combat unit that can be trained by Shaolin Monks. The Disciple uses martial arts abilities to score critical hits and has a small chance to convert killed enemies into new disciples. It is faster than most infantry units and is excellent at aiding the Shaolin Monk to collect treasures. China starts the game with one of these units.
  • Flamethrower

  • Flamethrower (3 KB)
  • Infantry, SiegeTrooper, RangedInfantry
  • As the name suggests, the Flamethrower is a sure-fire hit with Age fans. Built at the Castle, the Flamethrower is great at taking down buildings and killing masses of heavy infantry. It can be trained in Fortress Age.
  • Flying Crow

  • Flying Crow (4 KB)
  • Artillery
  • The Flying Crow is available only through homecity shipments and in the Confucian Academy, from which it is spawned automatically, similar to European heavy artillery. The flying crow hits targets in a wide area and is especially strong against buildings, but lower-ranged than most artillery.
  • Hand Mortar

  • Hand Mortar (4 KB)
  • Artillery
  • The Hand Mortar is a cheap artillery unit that, unlike other mortars, is able to attack all kinds of units and not only buildings, although it's still best used as a siege weapon. It is also strong against artillery and ships. Being easy to mass, it's a fearsome weapon in Fortress Age.
  • Iron Flail

  • Iron Flail (4 KB)
  • HandCavalry, HeavyCavalry, Cavalry
  • Equipped with a deadly flail, the Iron Flail heavy cavalry is a powerful anti-infantry unit for China. Its attack hits a small area around the target, making the Iron Flail stronger against masses of skirmishers and archers.
  • Keshik

  • Keshik (4 KB)
  • Cavalry, Archer, LightCavalry, RangedCavalry

  • Meteor Hammer

  • Meteor Hammer (4 KB)
  • HandCavalry, HeavyCavalry, Cavalry
  • This unit has the ability to inflict melee damage from a small distance, making it easier to catch up and hit enemy units. It is a relatively strong unit that excels at destroying artillery pieces.
  • Qiang Pikemen

  • Qiang Pikemen (4 KB)
  • HandInfantry, Pikeman, Infantry, HeavyInfantry
  • The Qiang Pikemen are likely to be melee infantry units used to counter enemy cavalry units.
  • Shaolin Monk

  • Shaolin Monk (4 KB)
  • Infantry, CanSeeStealth, HandInfantry, ChineseMonk, Monk
  • The Monk is the Asian civilizations' equivalent of the European Explorer unit or the Native Warchief. China starts the game with one of these units. Monks don't have the sharpshooter attack, yet they have a stun ability to aid them in collecting treasures. The Chinese Monk fights with no weapon other than a pair of deadly fists. It uses martial arts abilities to score critical hits and has a small chance to convert killed enemies into disciples. The Shaolin Monk can also train disciples.

  • HandCavalry, HeavyCavalry, SiegeTrooper, Cavalry
