Sioux Units
The Sioux army is composed of fast yet strong units. All, except for the Dog Soldier, are available to train by either a corral or warhut. In the early game, the Sioux will rely on cetan bows, war clubs, axe riders, and bow riders to quickly hit the enemy and disappear just as soon as they attacked. Later in the game the Sioux have a lesser economy but a stronger military to raid and disrupt the opponent. Keep this in mind, as the Sioux need to be offensive to win.
The Sioux military is very cavalry-heavy, with the Sioux having a massive five types of cavalry available for training; The Bow Rider, Axe Rider, Rifle Rider, Tashunke Prowler, and Dog Soldier. The Sioux lack any artillery at all, and will have to rely on their ranged infantry and dangerous melee cavalry for siege. This can be further improved with the Siege Dance.
- Infantry: Cetan Bow | Wakina Rifle | War Club
- Cavalry: Axe Rider | Bow Rider | Dog Soldier | Rifle Rider | Tashunke Prowler | WarChief
- Other: Canoe | War Canoe
Axe Rider

- Heavy Cavalry
- The Axe Rider is a melee unit that does well against light (or ranged) infantry. It has a relatively high hand attack for a colonial cavalry unit. A shipment of four is available in colonial for the Sioux, and should be in most every Sioux’s deck. Axe Riders have above average siege lategame. A single axe rider costs 160 food and 40 gold.
Bow Rider

- Ranged Cavalry
- Bow Riders are a great unit. Costing only 100 food and 75 gold, the bow rider does extremely well against hand cavalry. Consider it the best unit in colonial to counter cavalry with. The bow rider even works well against small amounts of heavy infantry, due to the bow rider’s melee resistance. A great combo unit with abus, streets, longbows, chu-ko-nu s, Yumi, and more.
Canoe

- Naval Unit
- The Canoe unit is one of the two Sioux military naval units. Easily spammable at 100 wood, these guys can also fish, albeit at a slower rate than normal fishing boats. The Siege Dance affects Sioux canoes, so be sure to have Siege Dance on during naval battles!
Cetan Bow

- Infantry
- The Cetan Bow is an archer unit designed to counter heavy infantry. They have a tough time against well-microed musketeer type units, do your best to keep them from being melee’d. In large numbers, Cetans can decimate foes, but the set-up time hurts them in small numbers. Cetans cost 65 food and 35 wood.
Dog Soldier

- Melee Cavalry
- The famed Dog Soldiers are certainly a dangerous (and therefore difficult to obtain) heavy cavalry unit, with high hitpoints and a strong attack. They act as Lancers in that they have a bonus against all infantry. Dog Soldiers are obtainable through shipments, the Fire Pit, and the Big Button technology found at the Town Center.
Rifle Rider

- Ranged Cavalry
- A ranged cavalry unit armed with a repeating rifle. Fits an anti-artillery role for the Sioux. Rifle Riders also counter melee cavalry and heavy infantry. At an expensive 120 food 100 gold, use Rifle Riders only when the enemy amasses Heavy Infantry and Cannon. While the Rifle Riders counter several unit types, they themselves are countered by heavy infantry in melee, ranged cavalry such as dragoons, and light, ranged infantry.
Sioux War Chief

- WarChief
- The Sioux warchief is a mounted unit, great for early scouting and treasure-gathering, and with a melee attack that has area damage. The war chief gives all units a speed boost of 10%, and, with a card, attack as well. He has the ability to 'convert' treasure guardians, an ability which replaces the 'Crackshot' attack of the European Explorer unit. Keep him alive, for European Explorers will fear his speed and attack.
Tashunke Prowler

- Cavalry
- The Tashunke Prowler is a stealty cavalry unit that gains attack as its numbers grow. The build limit is 12, and the cost is expensive, but Tashunkes simply eat up any infantry that are caught in their way. Tashunke Prowlers have default area attack much like Gendarmes. Because Tashunkes cannot be upgraded, their usefulness drops in lategame. They are a very tactical unit, to be used for precision strikes. Smearwashere came up with a Tashunke Fast Fortress, the Tashunke Shank
Wakina Rifle

- Light Infantry
- The Wakina Rifle unit resembles the European skirmisher. Use the Wakina rifle against heavy infantry and ranged cavalry. At 60 food and 40 gold (post 1.04 TWC update) they are relatively cheap and decently spammable. They do their job, and do it well.
War Club

- Heavy Infantry
- The War Club is a Sioux pikeman unit with a higher base attack and lower multiplier against cavalry. They still do well against cavalry though. Warclubs are cheap and weak, at 40 wood and 50 food. Due to the higher base attack rushing with war clubs works relatively well; assuming the attack is fast. Other then that, use the more expensive but more versatile Bow Rider in place of this unit. See Asko’s SPAR for a great rush utilizing War Clubs.
War Canoe

- Naval Unit
- The War Canoe is a more powerful version of the simple Canoe. It is attainable through the dock and costs 150 gold and 100 wood. The War Canoe becomes available in the Fortress age, much like the siege dance. While not as cost effective as a normal 100 wood canoe, the War Canoe should definitely be chosen over the normal canoe when resources allow.
