Post screens of both and prove your point.

Somehow i think that writing this is a waste of time.

Well a while back i did a benchmark survey....

ATI cards seemed to be better with RTS games, but this was more with the 2d style ones.... Nvidia of course whooped with 3d fps tho

Yes, they are surprisingly looking a lot better on my 9700 Pro than I thought they would.

Those graphics are way better than mine and I've got a Radeon X800 Pro, maxed on every detail

Yes, I picked one up recently (the 9800 Pro AIW card w/TV tuner was on sale) mostly for this game.

My system is P4 1.8GHz 400MHz fsb, 512 MB RDRAM and it runs this game just fine (with a few units only, no 100 unit battles yet).

I'm boosting the memory to 1GB for other reasons, but it should help the game as well. I may upgrade CPU if I can find a cheap 2.6-2.8 Gigger on ebay.

I am going to try a diffrent sreen size. like 1200*1600 also 1020*1000 or the 800*600.

9800 doesn't support the bloom apparently.

Disable bloom and it looks quite a bit better.

    posted 09-09-05 12:52 PM EDT (US)     12 / 89
I have bloom off and water reflections on! Looks great...bloom is more of a "show off to your friends" feature...who wants to play RTS with sunglasses on, anyway??? 8-)
    posted 09-09-05 12:55 PM EDT (US)     13 / 89
And I really don't understand why your friends would be impressed since it makes the game look worse :P

The graphics are decent with it off.

Yeah, I'm pleased with how the 9800 Pro has handled the demo. Looks very nice on 1024x768.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

I am trying to decide between a 9800pro 128mb and a 6600 256mb. Can anyone please give me some advice.

    Thanks

what is the hotkey for taking a screenshot? Doses anyone here know?
    posted 09-09-05 02:34 PM EDT (US)     18 / 89
Also is the bloom effect the only thing that the Nvidia's have over ATI?
    posted 09-09-05 02:46 PM EDT (US)     19 / 89
Yea, it is odd that the 9800 Pro is putting out better performance.

    My specs are:

    6800 Ultra Go
    Pentium M 2.0Ghz
    512 Ram (running dual)
    60 gig 7200rpm HD

For some reason I cannot get shadows to appear in game even with everything maxed out. I know my system is capable of it. Hm. I'm hoping this is just a demo problem.

I always have been impressed by the 9800 and this just strengthens it

    tjeremenko:
Go for the 9800. The 256MBs of the 6600 will do just about nothing.

    THANKS BLACKWATCH!!!

I have been watching both on Ebay and trying to decide which one to go with. Is the only thing that I won't get the bloom effect?

    posted 09-09-05 02:55 PM EDT (US)     22 / 89
Uhm. My graphics look just as good and I have a Nvidia FX 5200??!!

Processor: 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4

1 GB of (DDR or something not sure) RAM.

    posted 09-09-05 02:57 PM EDT (US)     23 / 89
Regardless if the 9800 does better in this game or not do not tell the guy to go for the 9800! The 6600 GT is the best bang for your buck and has high end technologies the 9800 doesn't. He is right that the 256 ram will do nothing. Just go for a 6600 GT 128mb. It is a better card than a radeon 9800, hands down.

I have a 9700 PRO and it runs very great. I have all my settings on Default(which is mostly high I believe) and I have no lag what so ever or choppyness. May I also add that I have 512RD Ram.

You should see the graphics on my laptop, and it also has a Radeon 9800 M in it... Its amazing. Of course, I its a AMD 64 3200+ with 512 MB. I want to upgrade to 1 Gig, but that won't be for a while, and judging by how good the game run with 512, I can wait a while.

    At my signal unleash HELL.
