It's poll results time:
Question: What do you think of OnLive?
Choices:
Used it - It's the best thing since sliced bread and the wheel combined [28 votes] Used it - It's ok, may use it again [17 votes] Used it - I'll install MY games on MY computer thanks! [30 votes] Heard of it - Looking forward to trying it when I can [26 votes] Heard of it - Meh! [55 votes] Heard of it - No Way José [80 votes] OnLive? Never heard of it! [493 votes]
While I'm quite surprised at the number of people that have never heard of it (you should look into it, it may be one of the models for gaming in the not too distant future) I'm not surprised by the negative reaction, my initial reaction when hearing about it was somewhere between "I'll install MY games on MY computer thanks!" and "No Way José", however after taking advantage of the 'game for £1' UK launch offer I did change my opinion.
It's certainly not great, and those with a decent gaming rig will notice straight away that the graphics aren't up there, however I was pleasantly surprised at how well the system worked, OK you won't be playing a mutiplayer FPS on it anytime soon and the lag is noticeable at best (on a 20meg cable line) although not nearly as bad as I feared, but net speeds across Europe and the US will have to improve quite a bit to make it a viable option for the majority (South Korea should be OK).
Overall it's OK, and an option for those that don't have the money to spend on a gaming computer and I strongly encourage you to take advantage of any offers that will allow you to try it out for yourselves.
Our new poll is up and we want to knowWhich strategy game are you most looking forward to in 2012?
