Age of literacy:
Age of literacy is a sequel to Age of Mythology that takes place in the late 19th century with great writers instead of gods. The three playable factions in this game are the Americans, British and French. The resource that replaces favour in this game is education. The human units would reflect the late 19th century and early 20th century but all in all it is very similar to Age of Mythology in gameplay, just with a more orchestral imperialistic soundtrack to the game.
The Factions:
The British: The British are the strongest faction in the game being the largest empire during the 19th century. However for economy they are separated by workers and gentlemen. Workers gather resources like food, stone, wood and coal as well as build structures while gentlemen gather education by going into universities and can gather food from hunting animals. The British are strong in naval power and have some interesting myth units. However the British have a lower population limit than the other factions but their infantry are stronger. The British architecture is very factory like in appearance to represent the Industrial revolution while their town centre looks like the houses of Parliament.
The French: The French may not be as strong as the other factions but they are good at setting up a good economy. The reason for this is that their basic villager unit is the “citoyen” which gather any resource. Their military is heavily based around infantry and artillery but they have some very exotic colonial units. Their navy is weaker than the other two factions but they are good in fortifications. Their architecture is very palace like and would resemble many buildings you would have seen in 19th century Paris.
The Americans: The Americans are the trickiest faction to play as in the game but become more powerful as you go on in the game. The tricky thing of the Americans is that you have require many different units to gather specific resources. The trapper gathers food from hunting animals while rancher works on and builds farms. The “Coolie” (a Chinese immigrant) mines stone and coal as well, he builds mining camps, and the logger builds logging camps to gather wood while the workers build most buildings. Education is gained automatically by building new settlements. What is unique about the Americans is that they only need four military buildings, the shipyard, the Saloon, the university and the Fort. The shipyard trains naval units, the Saloon trains outlaw and immigrant units while the fort trains army related units. The buildings of the americans have an old west look to them.
