As you climb into the 1800's and beyound, ratings will change a lot more often, because I believe the way the system works if you loose at a higher rating your loss is more extreme, and the same for winning. Because it takes forever to get out of the 1600-1700 range, only because their are so many players and it would be lame if one could get to 1800 in one day by beating 6 1600 players so I think that that player was probably around that rating that day but now has lost like 3 games or so. I know that I've jumped from ~1820 to ~1850.
This is true, though not necessarily because you lose an extreme amount due to having a much higher rating (loss is capped at 17 max no matter what the rating difference). I think it's more to do with people's skill difference becoming smaller and smaller for the same difference in cuetech (ie. skill diff between 1700 and 1800 much larger than between 2100 and 2200), and so streaks of winning or losing are more frequent. Heck, I've gone down 100 points in a couple of days, and shot back up 150 points a few days after.
So maybe, if seeding, there's not too much harm if the cuetech's are somewhat off what people claim they are. Unless grunt tries to claim he's 1600
I do hope you guys will verify cuetechs before seeding. I was checking through the sign up lists (assessing my enemies, ehehe) and found some people who blatantly lie about their current cuetech 1v1. Without dropping names, there's a guy who claims to be 2200+ but is rated 2023 at the moment in 1v1. If the tournament is seeded, then he'll have a much better chance for a money prize if you take him at his word.
Dont worry, all ratings are verified with a little html generator i made....
“I love my name of honor, more than I fear death.”- Julius Caesar "The Pope! How many divisions has he got?"- Joseph Stalin "The hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain."- Napoleon Bonaparte "Dogs, would you live forever?"- Frederick the Great (addressing retreating Prussians at the Battle of Kolin)
I was wondering if anyone knows where the recordings for these tournament games are going to be posted and/or if any of them have been posted yet. I really enjoy watching the better players go at it and cant wait to see the games in the Finals. Was part of being in the tournament that you had to record your game to prove the winner? I think I read that somewhere but havent been able to find it again. Anyway, toss me a link if anyone has one.
Ohh and one more thing, you know those signatures that skwizz(not sure if thats the right name) has, do u just look your up and copy and past the url into your signature or do u have to use be or html code along with it?

The record section for the Tournament rec games is called "New Age Tournament Recorded Games" shouldn't it be called "New World Tournament Recorded Games"?

Heh I know, but it seems that the n00bs were paired against the experts anyway, but that is the law of bracket seeding I guess, although I could of sworn there were at least 3 worse players than me lol.
Speaking of which, how did you decide which players were in each initial bracket? And after you decided who belonged in each bracket you used the "1st place:8th place, 2nd place:7th place" type or arrangement, right?

Yes standard bracketing rules were used.

Ok well this is how it was done. Magic is seeded first therefore he is assumed to win, second place is assume to goto starsky because he is seeded second. From there the brackets are fill out. So in round 8 the sum or seedings must equal 2^2+1, 7th round 2^3+1, 6th 2^4+1, down to 2^9+1 for the 1st round. Therefore following the tree back magic gets paired against the 512th person in the seeding the first round. Since there were only around 350 ppl who signed up, however, anyone matched agains like 500-350 got a auto-advance. This method ensures that ppl with no chance of winning will get eliminated early. The reason this is done is well you could do 1st vs 2nd best first round and so on down the line, but if you did it that way it would be 1st rank vs 256th rank in the finals... that wouldnt be any fun. It might not be the funnest to get eliminated first round if your not that good but thats just how brackets work.

Hi, i play in in bracket O, I want to arrange the game, and I made a topic to arrange the game from the first day on but my opponent ( pedro1989) still hasn’t replied. And I gladly want to now on forehand when we are going to play so I can schedule it.Obviously,if he doesn’t reply there is no problem, I advance to next round but I tell this because I want to avoid that if he replies the evening of the 23th or so I maybe wont be aible to play the next day but I could play then if I knew a little earlier and I think its kinda unfair if I would lose that way because I had all week long time to play or schedule.(I checked multiple times that he make a topic but he didn’t) Oh yeah, if he doesn’t reply, in what section of the forum I have to post a topic?
PS:sorry about the not so goodenglish and if this was the wrong place to post it

Okay, thanks Mokon And that does make sense, no point in leaving the n00bs in the tournament

If he waits till 10 seconds b4 the next round starts dont worry we will notice that.
Anyhow if he doesnt show up just post in the results thread that XYZ nvr showed up. We will handle it from there. It would also be a good idea to put down someplace we can contact u as well.
