Do people seriously think they're tricking GOD?

I think they dont think god cares about it but they care about what other people think of them.

But in this economy turning a light on for a Jew is a job, and we don't want the number of jobs available cut further.

Christians are the same way. First it was buying and selling clerical appointments, then it was buying and selling ecclesiastical pardons and dispensations, then it was decoupling moral/ethical conduct from spiritual salvation, then commercializing and mass-marketing evangelism, then it's fake stigmata and pieces of toast with Jesus and Mary in the crumbs on ebay, what next? Oh yeah I know. Faith-based initiatives, or turning a secular humanist state into a hidden theocracy. Like theocracies elsewhere, like *ahem* SAudi Arabia and Israel. Because clearly, that is the very best model of government.

I have been thinking about starting to use smileys again. Back in 2005 or so when everybody used them they got on my nerves, but these days they're so rare I think it is time for a revival. What do you think?

IMO smileys have a place in electronic communication where it's difficult to convey intent. A smiley, while a poor substitute for actual body language and tone, can do the trick quite nicely.
