I saw avatar it was really good and lived up to my HIGH accpectations altho i was worried they would solve the problem diplomaticly until the war. when the "next-to-be-that-girl-whose-name-im-to-dazed-from-watching-it-in-3D-to-remember's-wife-although-she-has-sex-with-her-student-and-falls-in-love-with-him-and-next-to-be-clan-leader guy died and grace ms-just-remove-my-clothes-to-try-to-revive-me had died I was so happy and everyone thought i was a sadist for laughing when the odin horsies and sacred trees died. Over all the explosions were pretty well done and for a while i thought i was there because of the 3D glasses but they made me think in the moment and forget what happend recently. Although for some clearification my friend said most of the people looked computer generated and the movie has been worked on for 5 years so it kinda seems reasonable.

More like 15, actually.

In most movies esp. this one I really think the main character should have died.

It would have made the movie much more... "think about whats happenning in the world"

I find I REALLY like it when the director makes you love the character and then kills them :-3

Even though I'm often partial to dramatic death as well, I'm glad they chose not to kill off either of the leads in this. I was sure for a while they'd kill off Zoe Saldana's character. But it just wouldn't have been the same sweeping feeling of heroic triumph that really tied the movie together. How much would it suck if Han Solo had died during the Death Star battle in Star Wars IV?

Besides, they need to keep them alive for the two possible sequels

I don't think Computer generated really does it justice. What we are seeing on screen is definitely the actors' bodies. It seemed more like they had an original film version, then it was expanded on via computers. Almost like using computers to add costume and sets post filming. Which is in a way cgi, but it's a bit beyond that.

Or it was exactly how they did Gollum in LOTR with motion capture and then CGI'd over the actor in his funny little motion capture suit.

I know Cameron developed some new technique for the film where as the camera films the live actors, some program overlays a crude rendering of the cgi counterpart over the actor in the viewfinder. Probably helped him tremendously in visually directing and structuring the scenes.

Also a huge part of his 400 million dollar budget
