Sick and tired of the cold winter nights in Quebec and the more than limited growing season for grapes and very few escargot, the French have decided that they wish to move to the south. Unfortunately, you and your British colonies are already there and have no intentions of moving.
Unknown to most historians, who still believe that it was the Native tribes that allied with the French in their efforts; it was those masters of death and destruction, The Circle and their Boneguards (perhaps, disguised as Natives) who aidied them in their quest. It has been rumoured that the French had promised The Circle either a map to the Fountain of Youth or specific directions to Disney World for their loyal patronage. Whatever the incentive, they were there to aide and abet the French in their dastardly efforts.
You control a VERY large number of British regulars and mercenaries and have been charged with the task of returning the French to the land of quiche and souffles and to break The Circle as well.
A trade route runs through the middle and there are six neutral native tribes willing to take sides of whoever is there with the money and a trading post.
Sometimes, the French and The Circle will attack and sometimes they don't (please send a note of thanks to ES for their incredible AI). I have done everything of know how to do in order to get them to attack en masse but again, sometimes they do and sometimes they do in trickles, a little bit at a time.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are looking for cinematics with which to entertain yourself, I suggest you go to your local theatre. Campaigns have cinematics (like the fine Roanoke Campaign available for download)... I haven't seen that many commercial products (e.g. AOE & AOM) with cinematics outside of their campaign menus. ALSO, if you are looking for an in-depth and detailed story with plot after sub-plot, may I, respectfully, suggest Charles Dickens. Thank you.
I hope that you enjoy yourself!!!

Mr. Mouse,
Both files go into the scenario file in the My Games folder in your Documents file. Most people give those instructions but this guy didn't... no big. |

The main posting for this cracks me up. Wish I weren't too tired to play it tonight.
Looking forward to it! |

FUDGE! Now I have the time, but I'm having trouble getting it going. First time in a while this has happened. The files are in the right place, I've verified them, downloaded, unpacked and installed twice but AoE doesn't see them. Even went to the MyGames/Scenario folder and tried changing the file name with no luck. Anyone else have this problem or have an idea how to get around it?
Thanks! |

Hey!
are you sure that you verified the file!?! Because i found an error in the name.
-The French & Circle War.agn3scn (wrong one)
-The French & Circle War.age3scn (this is the good one) |

still no luck here either. Darn! Still trying, I always look forward to "returning the French to the land of quiche and souffles." :)
Tried using the scenario editor in hopes of getting somewhere with no luck.
Help, someone?!?!

Thanks for alerting me to this!
Hammond, you are quite correct about the file name and I don't have a clue how the file was corrupted. It could be that I live in Laos. Often I have sent e-mails to the modern world only to have them returned because the address, somehow, got changed.
Fudge is a good word Mr. Sentry... Perhaps, we can have some (with pecans, if possible) and hope that my next attempt to get this up runs smoothly. 8-)
It normally takes a day or so for the upload to show up in the listings. |

Lately I've been thinking I'd trade our 'modern' world for someplace like Laos. Do you have some mountains I can get lost in and stay in?
Only problem is I'd miss playing games. Guess I can't do that in the wilderness.
Mmmmm fudge. :)))

Sentry-- You can play games here but just not well online with anyone out of the country. 8-) If you don't speak Lao, it cuts down a bit on the games in country..ha!ha!
If you ever fancied the thought of 'time travel'... this is the place for you. a few miles into the countryside or into the mountains and you have 'travelled' 200-300 years into the past. It is truly amazing!
I work with 'disabled' children here and as an individual with 'disabilities' myself, it makes my lessons mean more to them. We ALL have abilities! |
