American Frontier - Update Version 3.0 FINAL
Single Player B&D Custom Scenario
My original goal was to create a quick custom skirmish game using the editor, as the cut-and-dry regular maps of Skirmish Mode just weren't cutting it in the enjoyment category anymore (This is after I picked up this game again since my original days here at HG many years ago). Remembering how buggy and seemingly impossible the editor was back when AoE3 was released, I never successfully finished and released a complete custom scenario. This time I wanted to have another go and take on a challenge. My focus centered on a simple and small scenario, with an easy yet enjoyable storyline, and striking a good balance in terms of detailed scenery and map design as well as ample triggers and game mechanics. This did not mean going over-the-top with a massive RPG idea or multiple quest sort of game like my last major attempt. I knew my limitations, and being a bit rusty, it took about 2 months to create, playtest, and extensively edit this darn thing (up to version 3). I hope all of you enjoy it for what it is...a 2.5 hour (tops) custom battle centering on the American frontier experience...if two or more European powers decided to team up to challenge the early US. It's thoroughly playtested so there shouldn't be any trigger bugs or gameplay glitches, but if there are, please post something and let me know. In fact, if you have anything to say in regards to your gameplay experience, then please comment!

Installation Instructions:
Please place the .age3Yscn file into your Age of Empires 3 Scenario Folder! It should look something like this...
C:\...\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Scenario
So it's not the Program Files folder, but the one in your Documents. This scenario requires no mods or tweaks, so installation should be quick and easy.

DESCRIPTION:
You are in charge of an American fort in a deep and relatively unsettled part of North America, under an appointed Regent. The Dutch and German powers however, have joined together to challenge the new American nation, with this scenario focusing on *your* particular region. The game starts with an unsuccessful American lightning raid on the enemy positions, but it turns out that they are (at least initially) much better equipped and funded than you and your men are. Fortunately, the French have extended their friendship in the form of supplies from their Homecity, as well as troops, which you must use in your stand against this common enemy. Be warned! You will largely be on the defensive for the first half of the conflict, as the enemy coalition gets regular shipments of various troops to try and take out your outer and central fortifications, and thus, significantly weaken your position. After 50 or so minutes of game time, if you defended and prepared well, then you will be more than capable of outlasting large enemy offensives while quickly returning the fight to their camp and dealing decisive blows, to end their aggression once and for all.
STRATEGY:
The fighting is both relatively large scale (especially for this map, which is of standard size) and frequent, so bunker down in the beginning and distribute your troops wisely, or you could be looking at defeat as early as 20 minutes in. Maintaining a strong base defense is critical for the 1st hour of gameplay. The enemy will give you plenty of breaks to build up again and reinforce your base, so don't despair...try to find a balance between defending and attacking. Your goal is to play quickly and intelligently so you can return the 'bloody favor' to the enemy as soon you can, without being reckless, culminating in a more exciting and less drawn-out/bogged-down sort of game. There are many hints, directives, and helpful messages included so don't feel as you have to go it alone. A good thing to do is exploring your settlement and clicking around. Overall, this scenario is difficult, but if you know what you're doing and how to respond to the various tasks and threats presented, then you shouldn't have any problem at all. I'm sure most people can play through once or twice at least, to refine their gameplay and get most out of this fun scenario. Victory can be achieved well before 2 hours have elapsed.
FEATURES:
1. Over 80 triggers
2. 6 overall objectives
3. Opening battle cinematic
4. Day and Night lighting cycle
5. Friendly and hostile natives
6. Strategically limited techs, units and buildings
7. Defensive 3rd enemy computer for rush protection
8. Surprise attacks and ambushes
9. Long game "completion motivator" aka fixed gun mechanics
10. Command unit status response mechanics
11. Click-based optional intelligence reports
12. Early game pop cap and building space
13. Custom tailored politician options
14. Gameplay choice rewards
15. And much more!

O well wow. trigger work is quite impressive and eye candy is excellent :) was a real pleasre playing it!! i beat it in 40 minutes though. The enmies were easy to beat the americans don't have enough of a hard time, and btw the french should help america more and it would be cool if there were more secondary things like peasents helping you and stuff :)
other than that excellent job :) |

Playability: 5
I really enjoyed playing this map. I have tried it 3 times, and not once did i find a bug or something didn't work. The only thing was the Cinematic at the beginning,I found it very short, and things were blowing up everywhere, i understood but it was perhaps a little confusing, but confusion is lost when you start playing.
Balance: 4
With the 3 times I played it, I found a shift in Balance each time, and it's just because I played it differently. Although it got signficantly easier when their attacks became weaker, when they should have been stronger. Even if it is a touch too easy, you will still spend at least 1 hour on it which is a good time.
Creativity: 4
The story itself was very simple: Defend your fort while getting reinforcements but I love that type of scenario so although it wasn't very creative, you added many extras, such as peasants helping you etc.. Im not sure you remember but there is a supply shack which you said was left out, maybe you could re-include that feature and update you scenario.
Map Design: 5
POOF! Your map was AMAZING. A real eye-candy thrill. The fort was full of creativity, the men everything. I loved it, I won't give examples because everything was perfect there. If only there were many scenarios with that type of eye-candy. Your eye-candy impressed me just as much as Yuttho's does. You can really give yourself a pat on the back!
Story/Instructions: 4
Objectifs were mostly clear although I a little confused with Forward bases, and southern pass etc... But there are no spelling mistakes, and the story is enriched with all these side notes happening.
Additional Comments:
Probably the best scenario I have ever played!
I recommend it to all.
Do you plan to make any other maps?
